OH MY GOD.

"... Much has been made about the use of the word 'fix' in the context of intelligence and policy, but few have noted that that verb connotes, in English (i.e. 'British') usage 'organize' not 'construct' as is the understanding in the American idiom. ..."

What does he really think I'm that stupid??

He goes on to say the war was greatly supported by most public and those in congress and the senate. He fails, of course, to note that it was supported BASED ON LIES YOU FUCKING MORON BASTARD ASSHOLE!

Sorry.

:)

3. What difference does it make?...
Organizing the intelligence around the policy. Why is this any less sinister sounding than the original connotation, to a person of reasonable knowledge of the English language?

7. Hatch must think we are all idiots....
...I don't see "organization" among any of the definitions listed below:

Definitions of FIX on the Web:

repair: restore by replacing a part or putting together what is torn or broken; "She repaired her TV set"; "Repair my shoes please"

fasten: cause to be firmly attached; "fasten the lock onto the door"; "she fixed her gaze on the man"

specify: decide upon or fix definitely; "fix the variables"; "specify the parameters"

cook: prepare for eating by applying heat; "Fix (cook) me dinner, please"; "can you fix (make) me an omelette?"; "fix breakfast for the guests, please"

pay back: take vengeance on or get even; "We'll get them!"; "That'll fix him good!"; "This time I got him"

set or place definitely: "Let's fix the date for the party!"

informal terms for a difficult situation; "he got into a terrible fix"; "he made a muddle of his marriage"

kill, preserve, and harden (tissue) in order to prepare for microscopic study

fixate: make fixed, stable or stationary; "let's fix the picture to the frame"

something craved, especially an intravenous injection of a narcotic drug; "she needed a fix of chocolate"

repair: the act of putting something in working order again

sterilize: make infertile; "in some countries, people with genetically transmissible disbilites are sterilized"

situate: put (something somewhere) firmly; "She posited her hand on his shoulder"; "deposit the suitcase on the bench"; "fix your eyes on this spot"

an exemption granted after influence (e.g., money) is brought to bear; "collusion resulted in tax fixes for gamblers"

localization: a determination of the location of something; "he got a good fix on the target"

make ready or suitable or equip in advance for a particular purpose or for some use, event, etc; "Get the children ready for school!"; " fix (prepare) for war"; "I was fixing to leave town after I paid the hotel bill"

wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

I particularily like the last one outlined above! Oran Hatch is both a prick and a bastard. Now we can add traitor to his list of character flaws.

How many of us are in favor of it now? Certainly not a majority unless youre at a RNC meeting.

and somewhat lazy punctuation, but I was an english major, and I REALLY don't appreciate it when these propogandists screw with the language.

Edit for punctuation

Oh, and Clinton's parsing didn't bother me as much, as his parsing involved splitting the hairs of actual meaning as opposed to creating new definitions out of whole cloth (if you understand my meaning).

15. "I hate Clinton because he looked right at us and he lied"
"and then he tried to weasel his way out of it by arguing technicalities about the definition on words. But it doesn't change anything, he lied."

I am so sick of hearing right wingers say that shit, and then proudly rally behind Bush. Its disgusting.

All of the blatant hypocrisy that just seems to ooze out of the right wing makes me sick. And it seems to be getting worse, and to be more common of an occurrence.

Maybe that's because they are just getting bold about it.
