OMFG: ABC NEWS reporting that the Niger forgeries came from ITALY
Edited on Mon Jul-14-03 08:06 PM by DagmarK
They are creating a big convoluted quagmire of who's who and why and when and how .......

From some over ambitious Italian diplomat (now fired) who gave it to the brits, who gave it to us.

Kind of the Jayson Blair of intelligence.......

But they did pin Cheney for INSISTING that it go into the speech.

2. I thought that was old news.
The Niger/Italy/London connection was exposed a while ago. Apparently, the diplomat in question was from Niger and was trying to make a few extra Euros on the side.

6. The poster said an Italian was the source
I think it's important whether the individual was from Italy or from Niger.

If the person is from Niger, then greed could have been the motive.

If the person is from Italy, we need to know WHY the person forged the documents. What is the story here? Could it be that Italian intel "cooked up" the documents so that there would be "evidence" to get us in war?

Isn't Berto(however you spell his name) coming to Texas to visit Bush soon?

Do you think reporters will be allowed to question him on the matter?

3. Is this on the web? I saw this reported on the evening news at 6:30,
but I couldn't remember for sure if they said it went from Italy to the UK (I THOUGHT so, but couldn't remember). THEN, on PBS NewsHour, Jeremy Greenstock (newly appointed UK ambassador to Iraq) said that definitely the UK intel people never saw the forgeries. Hmmm.

This is all very exciting--we have a lot of the pieces, but the newsies have better access to the stuff we don't yet know. And finally they are digging!!

4. It is old news, at least in general outline
Italy has long been ID'd as the point of origin. Maybe they're offering more detail as to who and why.

5. That's a rousing recommendation for the veracity
of the secret info that the Brits will not now even let us SEE. NOT!

7. A document which was easily debunked by experts. And early on
Denny Hastert, get those impeachment documents ready.
