BBV: Kucinich calls for open-source, VVPT, developed by government
Dennis Kucinich was just on www.kpfa.org and was asked about FL 2000. In his words, there is plenty of evidence that the election was stolen. However, repeating a refrain he has stated in the past, he is not going to concentrate his energies on impeachment. I can see why he would not, but why hasn't someone else? It was treason...

Then, asked about BBV, he stated that he has introduced legislation that calls for open-source election software developed by the government, that private enterprise must not be allowed to develop such applications, and that a paper-trail much be required.

I'm not sure how we trust a government agency any better than Diebold to build these programs, but with sufficient visibility to the code it seems interesting. Has anyone heard of such legislation being introduced?

1. Not so far, and we probably won't.
I don't see the major media touching this given that they are owned by right wingers. On top of that, Republican controlled congress topped by the media ignorance of Kucinich makes it highly unlikely we'll se much aboutt his at all.

At least this shows why I support Kucinich- because he's DOING SOMETHING!

2. He spoke about this in Studio City last Sunday.
Did he say he has introduced it, or is getting ready to introduce it? If he's already introduced it, it will show up soon in the house record. And I'm sure the campaign will hear about it!

3. More leadership from Dennis Kucinich
and on the central issue in the next election too. This is why he's co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Go Dennis!

5. Nope.....no link
I have heard Kucinich talk about this before, but from what I can find he has not introduced any legislation. He is a co-sponsor if the Holt bill.
Perhaps we need to ask him to introduce this bill and attach it to the Holt Bill, or maybe that is what he has in mind......if that bill ever gets out of committee.

7. With the way the media operates, it won't be reported, and, with

the level DU has descended to, it will be ignored when posted here.

How many DUers even know that Dennis introduced a bill last week to repeal the worst provisions of the Patriot Act (i.e., nearly all of it)?

How many of those that do know have called or written their rep to ask him/her to support the Kucinich bill?

9. Excellent!
asked about BBV, he stated that he has introduced legislation that calls for open-source election software developed by the government, that private enterprise must not be allowed to develop such applications, and that a paper-trail must be required.

All our candidates should be pushing for this! Woohooo for the hard work done by so many DUers on exposing the BBV scandal! And go Bev Harris!

10. verifiedvoting.com says that the Holt amendment includes open source..
in addition to the VVB. I missed this before, if it's so.

Probably this is too late to advance the discussion, but it's worth a kick.
