Brownback on Face the Nation
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 11:53 AM by proud2Blib
Q: Regarding Frist and his position on stem cell research:

Let’s not create embryos for research. Let’s not clone humans. This is the first time we are going to use taxpayer money to destroy human life.

Q: Have you resigned yourself to the fact this is going to pass?

No - votes are not there to overcome prez veto. We need this debate in the house.

Q: You once compared this to Nazi experiments. Do you still feel that way?

The premise is what I was talking about. Kerry campaigned on life begins at conception. Let’s not take aditional step now that we are creating human life to do research on embryos. Most people not are not comfortable with this.

Q: Can Repub get nomination if they campaign on what Frist did?

That is 2-3 years off. We all want cures.

Q: Is Roberts conservative enough?

I am in the wait and see.

Brownback paused a lot, and was clearly uncomfortable answering most of these questions. Spector was on too and he (respectfully) disputed some of Brownback’s comments.

1. Santorum on This Week blames Dem Senators for Catholic Sex Scandals
George put poor ole Rick on the defensive on every issue. George kept pulling from Santorum's book and bitch-slapping him with it.

One thing of interest. Santorum said on the show in a discussion about the Catholic sexual scandals, that "Kennedy and Kerry allowed this to take place"!!

2. See how EASILY Repubs lie? He claims "Kerry campaigned on life begins
at conception" at the same time other GOP operatives are saying that Roberts is a devout Catholic while Kerry is a radical extremist.

Point being that if a Republican's lips are moving at all they are LYING.

They don't even care how BIG the lie is or if it contradicts what they said in the sentence before - they lie because they HAVE to. If the public ever heard a Republican speak truthfully about their REAL fascist agenda, noone would ever vote for them.

3. We should start sending out
phony talking point memo's to all these turds. So when they get on these shows they'll be all over the place and way off message. That's the only way they can sell their pack of lies is if the all keep repeating the same lies verbatim. We could add some mud to the mix.

5. Yes I noticed that
and couldn't help but remember that some Catholic priests were advocating not giving Kerry communion because of his pro-choice views.

11. Send this to Senators Brownback and Santorum
The NY State Senator Nichols Spano, who sponsored the OTC Morning After Pill Legislation, is a Catholic. The last quote says it all. This is what he said:

- snip -

Spano, who is Roman Catholic, called the bill "one of the most difficult bills we've seen in the Senate in decades."

"We have to remember the alternative to denying a young person with the opportunity of buying this pill is an abortion, and young people 12, 13, 14 years old can walk in and get an abortion in New York state," Spano said an interview.

"It creates many conflicts with my own religious teachings and background," Spano said. "But I was elected a senator, not a cardinal."

-snip -

Since Pataki has his eye on the Presidency and needs to appease the Religious Right, he still has not signed this and probably won't anymore.

6. This quote gets to me...
"This is the first time we are going to use taxpayer money to destroy human life. "

I wonder, if he's ever seen this picture...

or this...

Right, wrong, or indifferent, this was taxpayer money used to destroy human life... men, women and children. To pretend otherwise is to lie.

This man is lying.

8. He was really hemming and hawing
and had trouble responding to Schiefer's questions. This was probably one of the sillier things he said.

and the wannabe WW2 historian that I am, I pointed out that one.

Other examples exist.
