I just found out what some of the Pork is for Georgia!
First, Let me say, I live in Ga. I have been screaming about all these pork projects for years, and because the deficit is what it is, I think ALL pork should be deleted!!!

Having said that, I'm also sending at letter BACK to Saxby, since he so proudly bragged about all these accomplishments, and tell him I'm ashamed that he thinks he cas BORROW money, to throw it away on stuff like this!!!!

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will receive $2,000,000 through the Forest legacy Program for The Altamaha River Corridor. This funding will specifically protect 7.5 miles of the Altamaha River, containing high quality natural areas including bottomland hardwood forests, freshwater tidal cypress-tupelo forests, high quality bluff forests, and remnants of longleaf pine forests.

Paulding County will receive $250,000 from the Forest Legacy Program to go towards purchasing lands currently leased by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and managed as the Paulding Forest Wildlife Management Area, Georgia’s third most popular Wildlife Management Area.

The Museum of Aviation is one of Middle Georgia’s finest historical attractions,” said Chambliss. “It’s crucial that we continue to provide a place for future generations to learn about our Armed Forces and those brave men and women who fought for the freedoms we all enjoy today.”

U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved $200,000 in funding for the Museum of Aviation Foundation in Warner Robins. The funds will go toward expanding the architectural design, construction, and exhibit installation to complete the new 60,000 square foot World War II Exhibit Hangar and an adjoining Depot Flight Line.

Senate appropriations committee approved $200,000 for the Mercer University – Warner Robins Air Logistics Center partnership to form the Critical Personnel Development Program, which is designed to encourage and enhance study in scientific disciplines. Senate appropriators have approved $200,000 in funding for the City of Moultrie which will be used to construct a community multi-purpose and intermodal facility which would serve as a centralized hub for various means of transportation in and out of the downtown area including the bus station, county transit system, taxi service, bike trail, and parking system for cyclists and motorists

Senate Appropriations Committee has approved $200,000 in funding for the Morehouse School of Medicine for the school’s community development initiative in Atlanta’s West-End neighborhood.

1. Looks to be about 50% pork & 50% good stuff
Forest preservation is good, if it's used properly. Which bill is this in?

3. This was all burried in the appropriations bill.
I'm not saying that forest preservation isn't good. I'm saying, if you have to borrow the money to do it, it's stupid!

If Ga. got this much, how much did all the other States got?

I still think that until these idiots in the House and the Senate can get the spending under control, ALL THE PORK needs to GO!

5. And you're saying everything you listed is pork?
I respectfully disagree.

6. I'll say it after all
This is why I think the 50 state campaign is a waste of time and why southern Democrats vote the way they do. There isn't anything more important to "borrow money" for than our land, health and education. You want to gripe about "pork", go find a military base or agri-business to point to.

And again

2. Museums, education and old growth
I'd say this is the only decent thing the guy has done all year. And I'll hold the rest of my comments.

4. I disagree
The Altamaha river is home to endangered fish species, and the best way to protect a watershed is by protecting the land over it.

7. We will have to agree to disagree then.
You see, I believe in stopping ALL spending except for SS Medicare things that are already committed in the past, and NOTHING NEW. I complain about every politician groveling for $$ to send back home, mostly to get re-elected. If I'm going to complain about them all, that means my Senators and Reps too.

I'm not saying that some or even all of these programs aren't good ones, it's that the US can't afford anything right now! Sure, it's because Shrub gave all his friends tax cuts that we couldn't afford either, but he did it!

The way I see it, we either force Congress to recind the tax cuts, and get out of a war we shouldn't have been in to begin with so we can afford to do good things, or we stop spending $$ we just don't have. I just don't think we, as a Country, can afford to continue to say, oh it's OK to spend money on these things becaue we think they're good. SOmebody has to tell our representatives that there isn't a bottomless pit of money!

8. Fine
I don't think we have to keep adding things to the budget either. However, the Endangered Species Act mandates that endangered species get priority under certain conditions, and protection of habitat is one of those conditions.
I agree with fiscal responsibility, and had we not spent an ungodly almost $300 BILLION on a war for no reason, this wouldn't even be an issue.
