33. He was one of the few against it
and said so on a very regular basis. After the war started, he shut up, patriotic and all that. But he did not back this war. Bush, on the other hand, he ought to be tarred and feathered for backing the 'buffoon'.

35. Mathews has always been against the war
He has asked all along why is Bush lying about why he wants this war.

I like Chris Matthews. I get particularly annoyed with his overkill on the Clinton bashing, but he is a Democrat and he is hard on both sides most of the time. He doesn't put up with spin from either side.

That's not to say that I ALWAYS agree with him, but he has always one of my favorites. And right now he's got a woody for Bush. Big time! He put the responsibility for the SOTU squarely on Boy Idiot's shoulders and practically called him a moron. Said he was basically just Ted Baxter mindlessly reading script handed to him without having a clue about what he was reading. Which is no surprise to most of us.

I knew he was an idiot during the 2000 campaign. He is a disgrace intellectually. From day one since his selection I have been embarrassed for our nation. He is a laughing stock. And, so help me God, I am taking great pleasure at his making an ass of himself now that this nation (the rest of the world already knew it) is finally taking notice that he is a fucking crook.

This story has legs. I saw another report, I think it was still on Hardball, I think it was O'Donnell reporting, that she spoke with many on Capital Hill, Democrats and Republicans alike, that are questioning many other statements in the SOTU and the buildup for the war that they feel were discredited but passed along as fact that should be investigated now. Specifically, the aluminum tubes, (centrifuges?), the Al Quaeda connection, the insistence that they had nu-KU-lur capability, all unfounded. I can't cite the source off hand, but it was reported that there WILL be a bi-partisan Congressional investigation on this around September.

The Bush Crime Family is Fucked!

It's almost as if some power up high said "Okay - you can go after them now - And the media is allowed to report it. WTF?!?!?!?

They always go toooo far, and it always bites them in the ass. They never learn.

Someone pinch me! It's been a week - am I dreaming??

Linda

PS - Thanks - I needed that!

7. One long-shot theory:
is that now that the media companies have what they want (after the FCC ruling) they don't have to really answer to the Bush cabal like they used to. They can appeal to the left-wingers too, knowing that there's a larger audience out there.

45. William Schneider would agree with you, too, Skittles.
I saw him pontificating the other day PRE-Niger Liar-gate saying that it wouldn't be the where-are-the-WMDs that'd start the trouble for bush, but rather the daily death toll from Iraq. A shame that it takes a continuing stream of sacrificed soldiers to do this. What a waste of life. What a waste. What a sin. What a crime.

Of course, everybody in the conventional media just stayed asleep at the switch until the Niger business erupted.

Now, at least, they're finally doing their jobs. Or starting to, anyway.

29. yes...
... and unfortunately - IMHO this mindset has become an American phenomenon.

A lot of Americans were happy to get the adrenaline rush of a "war", but now are not so happy about the huge bill, in lives and money, that appears to lie ahead without end.

Just like buying stuff on the "no payments 'til January 2005" plan has played its part in wrecking the economy (it isn't just corporate malfeasance or a stock market bubble that has sunk our economy, it is massive, unprecedented consumer debt.)

So yes, I agree with you. Too many Americans have become instant gratification junkies, and this ill-conceived war is another example of it. Now that the true cost is becoming apparent, they are balking. I guess better late than never, but it is a shame so few people in this country could not see the *inevitable* outcome of this sorry war.

4 major papers in Western WA, including the least conservative - the Seattle P-I - emphasized that new "democratic council" in Baghdad and buried the SOTU story.

Which made me think: Yep! They will sell this fluff piece about the council in order to "remind" Americans that this war was just and holy and good, so fugeddahbout the SOTU lies!!

28. From what I can see, Cat
I've been sort of on a "fuck the news" and hold my first grandchild vacation....but some powerful stuff still managed to get through. I've seen a number of "pissed" military family stories. I've said a thousand times that once they fell off the "America's heroes" for a few months list and where left with shit and they and their families started to piss and moan that Bush was going to start heading for the bottom. They are now getting pissed and thus their bitching is going through the vets clubs, bars and bowling allies of the country and Bush's numbers are heading for the sewer. Soon they will be open to hear more about them thar' AWOl charges and look on him as an arrogant son of the rich. AND, these whores, ever mindful of ratings, are in the business of giving the public what they WANT to hear...fuck the news. And now the principle is turning right against Bush. Tweety is probably (and I've watched for some time and am an old Political Science major) one of the worst fucking "political analysts" around. This fucker blows with the wind. Remember, honey, not long ago he was orgasmic over W's tight jeans. Now he's orgasmic over W's tight noose around the neck that threatens to hang him!!! Tweety is a great barometer.

I watched the Tweety and Sylvester Show too. It's true that he opposed the war but Mathews has been goo goo eyed over the Dissembler in Chief since he was nominated. Everybody could see Bush put the B-U-S-H in bullshit every time he opened his mouth. There's nothing knew about this whole Iraq crap that anybody didn't pretty much guess from the beginning, but because the war turned into a mess that we're going to be paying for for years, now those same cable news hounds who were howling for blood are suddenly playing like they were the poor little sheep led astray.
