Is Bush a genius?
According to this poor, deluded winger he is:

http://powerlineblog.com/archives/011183.php

"It must be very strange to be President Bush. A man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can't get anyone to notice. He is like a great painter or musician who is ahead of his time, and who unveils one masterpiece after another to a reception that, when not bored, is hostile."

:spray:

"it must be very strange to be President Bush"
Strange and horrifying at the same time.

I also enjoyed the bad grammar: "brilliance approaching to genius"

8. Reminds me of what Rude Pundit once wrote about Powerline
The Powerline people are notoriously thin-skinned, especially considering that they proudly gave themselves the gayest pseudonyms in all of political blogdom: the Hindrocket and the Big Trunk, with handy phallic pictures of a thrusting rocket and an elephant holding his trunk erect. This is not to mention the demonic owl with its legs spread wide (the symbol of the writer known as the "Deacon"), as if saying, "Suck my wise owlish cock, fuckers. Please?"

19. A friend of mine worked as a temp attorney for AssRocket
once. His take: Classic short-man syndrome. Gigantic ego, and the kind of guy who lives to fire 10 support staffers just before the holidays. Never talked about anything but his glorious self. He's the kind of guy who'd steal the pennies off a dead man's eyes if he thought no one was looking. An ethical lawyer, yes, but politically and personally a complete tool.

The BEST way to explain Bush is the failure of the opposition. Democrats have no core principles that gives them a vision of America they can sell to the nation.... and without such a vision they can't think strategically to counter the Right.

He's obviously a genius, cause he's kicked our ass for the last 6 years.

He has no morals, and did a great amount of it by cheating, but guess who just appointed Roberts as SC Judge? Or signed CAFTA? or .....

Yea, Rove gets a lot of credit too, but I personally think Bush is a lot smarter than people here give hime credit for -- at least politically.

56. Thank you!
The question that we should all ask ourselves is- Did we think it would be this bad when he took office or when he was running in 2000?

For me the answer is "no."
That means that I was hoodwinked into thinking this guy could not accomplish much. Much of that has to do with careless language, etc.
Yet, he has been able to push through an obscenely radical agenda against all odds.
That takes some skill, and yes some intelligence.
It's not hard to be careless with language and it just might impress some working class voters because it might create the illusion of an ordinary guy.
If we were to come down off of our ivory tower and look at this from a less superior point of view we might see that his creation of character is brilliant because it wins him friends everywhere and has allowed him to pull off a ridiculous agenda.
A world domination experiment under a failing economy.

64. He has great discipline
Whether campaigning or governing, you don't throw him off his game.

He has goals, and regardless of what else is happening in the world, he marches on to those goals.

This week we hear his approval rating hits an all-time low. For many politicians that would mean a time of reflection, rehuddling and changing direction. Not to Bush. He just marches ahead, and he scores many victories.

I think we can expect him to have a game plan for the 2006 elections, and he won't waver from it.

He's no genius, but he will keep pushing until the day he leaves office.

Actually, if you think that one of the traits of a smart person might be to get out of hard work or stressful situations by convincing others to cover for him (for example, by convincing them that he wouldn't be capable) -- I guess Bush is cunning, in that respect.
