4. What Jim Moran is saying is

that by having a trade deal with Central American more American materials will be used in manufacturing than would be used by the Chinese.

He also says that the cheap labor issue won't be as big an issue because of the the high tariffs in C.A.

"Right now only product that Central America can export is it's people - by providing jobs we can help alveviate the immigration"

Interesting points he makes. You have to remember that Jim Moran's district has a high population of Central American immigrants. They are probably in favor of this bill because it will help their relatives.

5. Ed Shultz is now comparing the loss of jobs from NAFTA

with the possible loss of jobs with CAFTA. Shultz:"Do you feel like you betrayed the Democratic party?"

. . Moran:"I don't think we can wait another 3 years for an administration that will care more about trade . . . we have to try to move forward we have to try to work with our neighbors"

6. Personally I am against CAFTA

but I think Jim Moran did make some valid points on the subject. I think with the fact that China is making so many strides to make everything may be a selling point for others to have trade agreements to counter them.

However, the farmers never benefit from these deals.

7. His argument is almost identical to what we were hearing about NAFTA

in 1993. CAFTA will creat jobs and raise the standard of living in Central America. CAFTA will reduce illegal immigration. Typical bullshit.

What good COULD come from this type of agreement is negated because they won't put in the restrictions & regulations that would be necessary to make it good for everyone.
