2. There's a separation
between the finger and his hand. it's most definately a pen. The picture is just so pixelated that it would appear that way. No smoking gun on this one, but here's a good pic for ya that is REALLY his middle finger (no ifs, ands, or buts)

9. So,,, why would he hold up a pen?
"Write me!" or maybe "Look at my new Waterman!"?

Even the set up his shoulders says, F*** You

Did Jeffy get paid from WH Petty cash or from the Bush Syndicates Panamanian accounts?

8. if he was holding a pen his wrist would be roated
and the highest part woul dbe to the RIGHT....grab a pen and hold it up and examine where the highest part is.

it's not as if we dont have another video of him flipping off a camera right?

10. Yah know what, look at the door in the background.
The "finger" looks like it is something on that door. Looks like he is making a fist with the thumb and index finger facing the camera.

A flip-off is my second guess, but the hand is not really the right shap for that. The thumb would be showing on the index knuckle. Also, it cannot be the index finger, as the amount of hand to the right of it is insufficient. Wrong shape for the thumb.

12. Why can't it be his* forefinger? Like he*s giving an "I'm* Number One"
salute when we all know he*s really a big stinky Number Two!

It could be a pen or a thumb(but less so) but it's definitely in the wrong position to be a middle finger.

18. For the index finger, it would have to be further to the left.

20. Well it's not far enough to the right to be a middle finger so I'm not
sure how it could get further to the left?

13. Who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes?
So this morning, I watch this clip from Leno where President flips off the camera (still image posted above).

And then ever since, I keep reading posts on DU from people telling me I didn't see what I just saw.

Remarkable.

14. It looks like a finger to me. That is no pen.
It's in the right place for the middle finger,
but it could also be the index finger with
his hand turned slightly.

15. It looks like the index finger to me. First glance I thought it looked
like he was flipping the bird. Of course I would not put it past him to have done it. Cheney tells a Senator to Fu*k off on the senate floor. Bush would have no qualms about flipping off someone that pissed him off. MHO

16. Just watch the video
Forget looking at stills. The timing, the rest of the gesture--he's flipping us off.

17. how
can it be a middle finger? his hand is held vertically, i.e, the top of his hand is facing right and the palm, left.

So I ask, with his hand in that position, how could that be a finger?

At least that's what it looks like to me.

22. The Great Deceiver, welcome!
I have one question. Did you seriously look close at that picture? Did you see the film?

His palm is facing forward. His index finger is closes to his head, and there are two other fingers on the outside of his middle finger, which is fully extended.

hmmm
thanks for the welcome.

I looked at the picture and his hand looks like it's held vertically to me.

the video, otoh, it definitely looks more like a 'flip-off' gesture, so that one is more convincing. but when looking closer at the picture it just didn't look like it. I dunno...

of course I'm not at all surprised at the notion of bush flipping off a camera. he's certainly done it before.

thanks again! :hi:

23. Pen. Try to gesture this way yourself
most of us would turn our arm so that the hand and the bent fingers would face us when we flip the bird.

Bush's back of the hand is clearly facing him and it would be a very unnatural way of flipping the bird this way

(but then, again, I don't have any experience in walking and flipping..)

25. This would work perfectly if you are flipping
people off who are behind you! That is how that is a natural way of flipping. And I don't have experience in walking and flipping either.

It's not as if he doesn't have a history of doing this. It's in character.
