Holy crap - conservative comic books. I never thought I would see the day
LIBERALITY FOR ALL #1

It is 2021, tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of 9/11. It is up to an underground group of bio-mechanically enhanced conservatives led by Sean Hannity, G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North to thwart Ambassador Usama Bin Laden's plans to nuke New York City ...And wake the world from an Orwellian nightmare of United Nations- dominated ultra-liberalism.

Series concept: What if today's anti-war Liberals were in charge of the American government and had been since 9/11? What would that society look like in the year 2021? What would be the results of fighting “a more sensitive war on terror” and looking to the corrupt United Nations to solve all of America 's problems? In Liberality For All , the reader sees a vision of that future where there is only one justified type of war…the war against Conservatives and their ideals.

Here's a sample page from one:

10. same here - especially love green arrow
marvel and jim starlin once did a book where all the heroes had to fight each other - religious leaning ones taken over by an alien vs. the secular ones fighting to save earth

it was interesting to see how they broke down along which lines. the fantastic four led the atheists against the others

ok, i just proved what a nerd i am

8. Nothing liberal about Superman IMO.
I think Smallville and Frank Miller have captured the true essence of Kentness: smarmy, hypocritical puritanism; might-makes-right ideology; kneejerk "patriotism". A military/industry sellout.

At least Batman recognizes his own humanity, acknowledging that what he does is no better than the actions of the criminals he brings down. To me, such an awareness of our own failings is the heart of the Liberal--of the human--experience. It's the foundation of humility and repentance, and ultimately, of redemption--even if we never make it there.

I'm just not a Superman fan. I have the first Reeve movie, but more for nostalgia than anything else.

The best part of Smallville is the Luthors. I've watched the first 4 seasons on DVD, and they and Chloe are by far the best characters on there, IMO. :)

24. It depends on who is writing Supes. Look at Alex Ross and Paul Dini's
Superman: Peace on Earth

http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/12.03.98/comics-9848.html

Superman's attempt to feed the hungry of the world seems fairly progressive to me.

25. DC = Anti-Bush
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 02:13 AM by Bark Bark Bark
Ages ago, DC would mindlessly exploit any political situation or trend that popped up--when "The Ayatollah" was our biggest problem, the Joker became Iran's UN Ambassador hah hah hah--but things have been different lately.

This was tapped VERY lightly for the toon Justice League Unlimited, but in the past several years in the print DCUniverse, Lex Luthor:

(1) stole a Presidential election;
(2) created a phony war with a (fictional) Middle-Eastern country based on lies about WMD;
(3) sent DC's overtly-conservative superheroes--Captain Atom and Hawkman--to take down Supes and Bats when they refused to bow to his authority ("You're either with us or against us!");
(4) was threatened by the pushed-too-far Batman with assassination, in spite of his aversion to killing (!).

*cough*

In a stand-alone JLA graphic novel (think the title is "Superpower") which came out before or around the time of "Shock and Awe," a new superhero, against the JLA's--and UN's--advice, zips over to that same fictional Middle-Eastern country and liberates it from its familiar-looking dictator by killing him. Hooray, right?

...But over the next several weeks, the once-stable country falls into constant civil war and widespread famine which leaves billions of the citizens dead in spite of the JLA's humanitarian efforts.

*kaaaaff*

This all came about back when Bush was still very popular. I haven't been reading them lately, but by now Darkseid is probably head of the GOP...

...but I think it should be Bizarro Superman.

My daughter is taking a high school social studies class right now, and two of the topics were turn-of-the-century/early 20th century vs. current, propaganda and civil liberties. (Yeah, I know. Don't even get me started.)

Anyway, we spent a lot of time looking at the Nazi material (which is why I thought of it), but I didn't see anything from the Stalin era. I'll take a look see tomorrow. Thanks.

21. Three years left in Smirk's term,
and they're giving up on getting bin Laden?

No one wants to get bin Laden more than liberals, apparently, since we were against going into the Iraqi sideshow. If all the troops and money used in Iraq were used against Al Qaeda, we'd be a lot better off.

Who'da thunk.

Although, actually, it should be "President Robertson and Vice President Falwell", and OBL should be fawning over their newfound global ecumenical understanding that has allowed all women to be wrapped 24-7 in burquas, nudity (not to mention porn and videogames- wooooohoo!) to be banned, and being gay or having sex outside of marriage to be punishable by death.

22. I almost orgasmed reading this:
"The F.O.I.L. Organization is forced underground by the “Coulter Laws” of 2007; these hate speech legislations have made right-wing talk shows, and conservative-slanted media, illegal."

"Rupert Murdoch’s decision to defy the “Coulter Laws” hate speech legislations, has bankrupted News Corporation. George Soros has bought all of News Corps assets and changed its name to Liberty International Broadcasting. LIB’s networks have flourished and circle the globe with a series of satellites beaming liberal & U.N. propaganda worldwide."

I can barely keep from pissing myself while reading this. President Moore and Clinton, you ogtta be fuckign kidding me hahaha

Oh man, Sean Hannity and G. Gordon Liddy have biomechanical implants, man they had to be doing drugs while writing hte story for this.

Liberality For All - 8 issue mini series - Color

Synopsis:

America’s future has become an Orwellian nightmare of ultra-liberalism. Beginning with the Gore Presidency, the government has become increasingly dominated by liberal extremists.

In 2004, Muslim terrorists stopped viewing the weakened American government as a threat; instead they set their sites on their true enemies, vocal American conservatives. On one dark day, in 2006, many conservative voices went forever silent at the hands of terrorist assassins. Those which survived joined forces and formed a powerful covert conservative organization called “The Freedom of Information League”, aka F.O.I.L.

The efforts of F.O.I.L. threaten both the liberal extremist power structure and the U.N.’s grip on America, the U.N. calls F.O.I.L. the most dangerous group in the world. It seems the once theorized Vast Right Wing Conspiracy has now become a reality.

The F.O.I.L. Organization is forced underground by the “Coulter Laws” of 2007; these hate speech legislations have made right-wing talk shows, and conservative-slanted media, illegal. Our weakened government has willingly handed the reigns of our once great country to the corrupt United Nations. The Department of Political-Correctness is required to assist U.N. monitors to properly edit all print and broadcast media. Live broadcasts are a thing of the past; all transmissions are monitored by the U.N. and any ‘offensive’ material is dumped.

Rupert Murdoch’s decision to defy the “Coulter Laws” hate speech legislations, has bankrupted News Corporation. George Soros has bought all of News Corps assets and changed its name to Liberty International Broadcasting. LIB’s networks have flourished and circle the globe with a series of satellites beaming liberal & U.N. propaganda worldwide.

The New York City faction of F.O.I.L. is lead by Sean Hannity, G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North, each uniquely endowed with special abilities devised by a bio mechanical engineer affectionately nicknamed “Oscar”. F.O.I.L. is soon to be joined by a young man named Reagan McGee.

Reagan was born on September 11th, 2001. He is the son of a NYC firefighter whose life was spared by attending his son’s birth. Reagan has grown to manhood in an ultra-liberal educational system: being told, not asked, what to think. With personal determination, which alienates him from his contemporaries, he has chosen the path less traveled…the path to the Right.

Two decades of negotiation with the U.N., and America’s administration of 2021 (President Chelsea Clinton and Vice President Michael Moore), has culminated in a truce with fundamentalist Islamic terrorists, or so America is told. The honorable ambassador from Afghanistan has come to NYC to address the U.N., his name is Usama Bin Laden. Ambassador Bin Laden has announced that he plans a public apology for the “misunderstanding” of the events of 9/11. This apology will occur exactly 20 years to the minute the first plane hit the WTC; this will be on the observation deck at the newly renamed “Unity Tower” built on the hollowed grounds where the WTC once stood.

Tomorrow is September 11, 2021, the twentieth anniversary of the horror of 9/11, or as it has become more politically correct to say “the unfortunate events resulting from the uprising of middle-eastern fundamentalist Islam”. Just days before his arrival in NYC, Bin Laden made a brief visit to Iraq, now a nuclear power that is run by the vicious Uday Hussein. In Iraq, Bin Laden received a tactical nuke that is now contained in his private diplomatic briefcase. Bin Laden plans far more than an apology at the Unity Tower.

F.O.I.L. has become aware of Bin Laden’s plot to destroy NYC and has devised a plan to stop him while simultaneously gaining permanent control of LIB’s satellite network. Unfortunately, U.N. Forces have discovered the secret location of the F.O.I.L. Lair. It is a race against the clock to save NYC from a nuclear holocaust and the world from liberal domination. Only with F.O.I.L.’s help, can “Liberality For All” once again become “Liberty For All!”

28. "...an Orwellian future of Leftist oppression..."
Oppression? Whuh? Even when they are winning (control of three branches), they are losing. Probably not just paranoia. They know they are wrong, and are destroying our country, so this is a manifestation of their suppressed guilt.
