My conservative African American neighbor likes Howard Dean.
Edited on Sat Sep-27-03 07:08 PM by Liberal_Guerilla
I had my next door neighbor over for cocktails yesterday afternoon. I was serving up my *Russian Winters. It was me, my wife and Mrs B, that's what we'll call her.

After a few cocktails we discussed the dem debates of the previous day. To my surprise not only did she watch the entire two hours but also came away liking Dean. She said that she likes his ideas and passion. BTW, She is a senior citizen.

This completely blew me out of the water because her politics are usually very conservative. This is only one person, but it sort of helped me to overcome my anxiety about Dean's appeal to the African American community, and conservatives.

What is strange is I thought that Sharpton kicked ass in those debates and she thought that Dean did well. Huh, go figure.

*Russian Winter.
2 OZ Vodka
2 OZ Ruby red Grapefruit
1 OZ Cranberry juice
Shake well in a shaker
pour into a chilled, sugar rimmed cocktail(martini)glass.

Enjoy and drink responsibly.

go for Dean. Come on, everyone knows Dean's support is mostly white and internet enabled middle class, with some from youth as well.

All I posted is my observation of my little part of the trench war. A snap shot, but certainly not the whole. I never said that it was a representation of the whole. All I said is that it was encouraging.

A lot of anger. A lot of shouting. A lot of overheated rhetoric in this thread.

Enough. It's time to feed the goal and chase those trolls away. Enter the zone of logic, reason, excitement, and positive persuasion. Elevate DU to a higher level. Feed the goal.

Sharpton and Braun are considered non-players. I believe that most African-Americans have the ability to recognize a con like our current president. Dean's forthright attitude (and occasional beligerence) are appreciated.

And, of course, I love to hear about the People who find that Dean appeals to them. There is certainly a cross section of them.

I'm going to my 2nd meetup on Wed. and it will be in a larger place, in New York,to accommodate the ever rising amount who at least want to investigate Dean further. I'm looking forward to seeing how many different kinds of People there are. That's what I get a kick out of ..the "across the board spectrum" of a beautiful Garden Variety! Spice of Life!

38. I like him, and have sent him $, but
there is a time for righteous anger (like when you've been the subject of the Starr report, for example). I wish Dean would not get so angry when someone has raised a legitimate question about past versus present positions, for example. He would be much more effective if he would stay cool and respond with facts, or explain the situation. It's really hard to do, but I think he would win over more people if he could do it.

46. Form B-
but content, F.

There is not one person in the senate who voted for the Bush war.

The October Resolution has absolutley no bearing on what Bush did. He was required to go to the UN, exhaust all diplomatic means, or prove imminent threat to the US in order to use force.

Find the word "war" anyplace in the resolution referring to what Congress was telling Bush in that document.

the whole Dean "anger" attribute is part of a media/bush love-fest distortion scheme. I have seen anger that is all-consuming and he does not suffer from it. He is simply a man that can't stand to see an idiot in the the most powerful position in the world. His supposed anger pales when juxtaposed to mine!

MOst People thought Dean handled the geppy stabs, well! Of course, donna brazile, who IMO has an agenda, thought Dean needed "to control his anger"...

And it's working with some people because I have had to counteract the "Dean gets too angry" from some who just get the soundbites from cnn or wherever. I just tell them that we need someone who is properly pissed and motivated to scrub bush. And they go..yeah! :)
