1. Hillary does something good for once.

Thanks. Seriously.

It does help every once in awhile to have big-shot triangulator backroom politicians around.

On edit: Man, this is nasty. The Clintons get nasty.

That would be a great headline, too. ;)

4. I'm confused
What did Hillary have to do with this? I didn't see her name mentioned in the story.

6. It's just speculation, but I'd put money on the Clintons
being behind Bloomberg's report of this.

The Clintons have pushed NY media before. They did it to Dean, too, in NY.

8. It's NY media.
I'm just guessing, but I'd bet I'm right. I'm getting the feeling that the big-name Dems are driving this thing right now.

9. I don't know much about New York media. You think they are leaking
or are the pressuring the wires somehow?

11. Yes. I sure hope so, at least.
If they're not even trying....

Bloomberg is straight NY. I know the Clintons have enormous pull with the NY Daily News, so I'd wouldn't be surprised if it was Bloomberg, too. And I'm sure that Bloomberg relies on them heavily for support- in a city as liberal as NYC.

Look, I'm not criticizing them over this. I'm saying that this is something GOOD they did, for once. They used their size for something that's actually going to help us.

13. I didn't take it as criticism of them
I'm just interested in how the game works in NYC. I would have thought that with Bloomberg himself being Repub, that he wouldn't deal with the Clintons, but the way you describe it makes sense. I doubt MB runs the wire directly, and both Clintons are heavy presences in their own rights in the city, so it makes sense that the news agencies would pay attention to them. A tip from a Clinton to a reporter, a little pressure on a loose source with the investigation... I can see where you're going. Rove isn't the only genius politician in America.

15. Bloomberg is Repug in name only.
I think he was a Democrat until practically the filing deadline for the mayoral race in NYC. We lived in the area, but not in the city at the time, and I think he changed parties because there were something like 22 Dems running against one repug. Bloomberg switched parties, beat the conservative in the primary, then ran as a R and won.

14. I think she's too busy writing angry letters about video games and
just generally playing DLC footsy, personally.

3. C'mon, does false testimony to a grand jury really matter? Oh.
Yes. Yes, it does.

Rawstory: if I ever grow up, I want to be like them.

12. Well that certainly explains Clinton's appearance on the Today Show
and his generous remarks about waiting until the facts are in ... ever the master of the political maneuver, that was his public way of telling George H.W. Bush he had nothing to do with this story. Deny, deny, deny. Will the Bushes believe him? He sure was smiling a lot as he spoke, I think he was enjoying the little role reversal.
