42. There was an entorage of 76 and 26 reporters
We know for a fact that Condi Rice, Colin Powell, and Ari Fleischer were on this trip with Bush. Karen Hughes is suspected of being on the trip.

The White House refuses to release a list of those people who were on the trip.

3. My email to Barack Obama
To the Honorable Senator Barack Obama,

During the trip made by the Bush Administration to Africa which began the evening of July 7, 2003, a State Department Memo was in the possession of then Secretary of State, Colin Powell. This memo detailed the work one Valerie Plame Wilson did for the Central Intelligence Agency.

Ms. Karen Hughes was also on that flight.

I respectfully request that you approach this subject in your questioning of Ms. Hughes in the confirmation hearings slated for tomorrow.

Thank You,
Walter Starr

33. Especially as I think Karen Hughes was the insincere creep
who after Teresa apologized for saying within the context of an otherwise very kind statement that Laura had not worked since she was young, (Karen) screeched that Teresa did not think raising kids was a job. (Ignoring that Teresa stayed home to raise her kids and Teresa's sons out class the twins by a mile)

52. What credit?
I don't really give Rove as much credit for being smart as for being willing to play extremely dirty. Co-ordinating dirty tricks of the nature he uses takes a lack of any decency or morality, not intelligence.

Emailed Joe Biden, Kerry, Barbara Boxer, Voinovich and Lugar. My money's on Boxer.

Another reason for the importance of this...could be if she lied to them, is that like lying to Congress? Good to get her on record either way.

Oh yeah! My letter (partly lifted straight off Walt Starr's)

During the trip made by the Bush Administration to Africa which began the evening of July 7, 2003, a State Department Memo was in the possession of then Secretary of State, Colin Powell. This memo detailed the work one Valerie Plame Wilson did for the Central Intelligence Agency, which was consequently leaked to members of the press.

Ms. Karen Hughes was also on that flight. Given the seriousness of the leak that revealed the identity of a CIA agent, it is important to establish Ms. Hughes' knowledge about this matter.

Although we are aware of the investigation underway, it is not simply a matter of getting at the guilty parties and filing charges. Our national security is at issue here, and we MUST know that nominees to sensitive posts will put our national security above politics.

I respectfully request that you approach this subject in your questioning of Ms. Hughes in the confirmation hearings slated for tomorrow.

prior to their dabbling in politics. I'm so curious about Andrea Mitchell's connection w/all of this...she was with Rice today in what I thought was probably a 'set-up' confrontation...Who better than the press knows how to feed the right stories? If this sounds paranoid and cynical, well....I've become so.

59. BREAKING: THIS GETS BETTER AND BETTER!!!
"In another indication of how wide a net investigators have cast in the case, Karen Hughes, a former top communications aide to Mr. Bush, and Robert Joseph, who was then the National Security Council's weapons proliferation expert, have both told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that they were interviewed by the special prosecutor.

Ms. Hughes is to have her confirmation hearing on Friday on her nomination to lead the State Department's public diplomacy operation. Mr. Joseph was recently confirmed as undersecretary of state for arms control and international security. As part of their confirmation proceedings, both had to fill out a questionnaire listing any legal matters they had become involved in."

61. glad this thread is here. KICKIN!
i'm listening to randi rhodes (the rerun from today) and i hear a caller talking about hughes. yetch!

so, i did a little search and you already have a thread from this afternoon i guess. good!

question--was karen hughes on that plane with the memo? had she gone home to texas at that point? what was her status? i know she's been in the grand jury already but i can't find a definitive answer to my current burning question as to whether she was on the plane.

either way--i'm writing these senators. i think she's a dirty piece of crap. (i saw a shot of the backstage area after one of the debates where bushie was wearing the box on his back--the camera crew had just entered the repukie area and there was karen--sopping wet from sweat, breathless and taking chugs out of a huge water bottle....she was exhausted from feeding bushie his lines for the debate--she was a wreck like she had just run a marathon. too bad the liberal media didn't air that little video clip more than the one time they did.)
