Sudanese guards rough up Rice delegation
MSNBC News Services
Updated: 6:20 a.m. ET July 21, 2005
“It makes me very angry to be sitting there with their president and have this happen,” she said. “They have no right to push and shove.”

Rice made her remarks to reporters after she and her entourage were aboard an airplane preparing to leave the Sudanese capital.

El-Bashir’s guards elbowed Americans and tried to rip a tape away from a U.S. reporter. At another point, Rice’s interpreter and some other aides accompanying her were blocked at a gate.

5. My thoughts exactly....
Atrocities are being committed in Sudan and the Sudanese government is roughing up reporters and the Secretary of State for asking questions. Ethnic cleansing is taking place and you folks actually sound jovial, because a bureaucrat on a diplomatic mission gets pushed around. I’m happy when Republicans screw up, but I don’t find this to be one of those times. I hope this isn’t representative of where we are today.
