Did this bother you?
I was watching wormtail (wormtail = GWB) on the tube last night, and the rhetoric really made me sick.

It just killed me that a man who lied to start a war, who pissed on the constitution, who runs the most secretive, unaccountable administration, who is putting a 1.25 Billion dollar charge on the national credit card every week to pay for Iraq, a man on top of what looks to be a thoroughly corrupt administration, that a man like this can stand in front of our Country and speak of honesty, loyalty, patriotism and integrity.

His appointment (appointment = coronation) bothered me. Of course it did. The fact that he knocked Plamegate off page 1 bothered my. His smirky, cocky arrogance always bothers me. But yesterday it just killed me that a man lacking brains, honesty, integrity, and common sense was talking to me about just those same things.

I felt the same way when DeLay spoke so highly of rove.

The feeling last night, and with DeLay, was basically "This is the last guy who should be speaking about integrity"

And that was what I walked away from the TV thinking.

Anyone else? or is it just me?

1. I don't think you'll hear any argument from the people here.
I really get disgusted with his arrogance and that condescending smirk he always sports. I can't believe people look at him and think he's some sort of "man of the people."

And, welcome to DU :hi:

2. You are not the only one. That they wear their arrogance
proudly is a slap in our faces. I can't watch any of them for very long and then only the snips that are played back on the stations. They think they are invincible.

3. Not really, I'm used to it. Guess I'm jaded.

I had the displeasure of seeing Kenneth Blackwell's speach about ethics back during the election fiasco. These people get off on saying one thing and doing the opposite. It's like a drug to them, a big "haha" to stand there and know they are putting one over on everyone.

Welcome to DU!

5. I think something in our society is about to break
very soon.

I see many acts of civil disobedience on the horizon. Too many corrupt asshole in charge of keeping "checks and balances" on other corrupt assholes. You have too many people on the Republican side putting party over country.

Anyone with an ounce of intergity in that party would have told Rove and Bush to take a hike a long time ago.

I guess if Zell Miller the corruptican says their alright it must be true? <sarcasm>

Major rift in this country between rich and poor. Nobody doing a damn thing about it. Way too much coruption on the part of civil servants only adds fuel to the fire.

8. If he didn't have a speechwriter, it wouldn't have crossed his mind.

He doesn't have any perceptions of integrity. He was hand-fed throughout his life experiences by parents who value stepping on people to get ahead, so he hasn't developed a sense of morality.

And, yes, if the entire population were listening to him, I'm sure at least 53% of the people would have been offended.

9. I only watched a few minutes....
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 04:22 PM by TwoSparkles
...I tuned in and saw the same, old tired shtick.

He's not fooling anyone with his pseudo-intellectual, constipated cowboy talk, "We're not goin to cave to the terrorists. Ya see. They don't understand the American people."

He's got to play the terrorist card, cuz the guy has nothing else. He's a failure on all fronts--with the exception of terrorism. 50 percent feel he handles that well. Pretty sad that his winning strategy involves a ploy that only half of America is buying into.

Great presidents don't resort to ploys. They lead. They build up America and make her better. They serve as ambassadors of our country. Obviously, Junior doesn't know how to do any of those things...so he rants on and on about turrism.

I'm not even mad anymore. It's just shameful that he's saying anything in our name. Totally shameful.

12. Everytime I hear him
I feel like I am being lectured to by an incompetent second grade teacher. He smiles when he talks about the war and he does it in a very condescending manner.

He acts like we're all stupid. Thing is, I'm beginning to think he may be right about that. Far too many people have bought into his spin. It is troubling to hear him break everything down into the simplest of terms, into absolutes.

Plamegate isn't going away just yet. I can't predict what the grand jury will do but it ain't over, yet.

13. Thanks for the welcome
Thank you all for your replies, and for the warm welcome.

Damn, these guys piss me off. Instead of manning the pumps, these guys come out and say we owe the turd blossum an apology?

WTF is that?

Talk about a slap in the face, huh?

Someone said that they need a reason to believe. That bushCo has never been held accountable for any of their numerous lies and fuck-ups. The press and public always seem to give him a free pass.

Just when things started looking really, really bad for bushCo, he *yet again* pulls a rabbit out of his freaking hat. Roberts knocked Plamegate off page one. That, and the chimp had a chance to look *presidential* again.

So, did the chimp dodge *yet* another bullet?

This is exactly the kind of stuff that knocks the wind out of my sails.

Hopefully, Fitzgerald has remained focused on the task at hand.

Cheers
