Tommy Thompson is getting a chip implanted. why? you ask
Former Bush official gets a chip implanted
Posted by Evan Derkacz on July 20, 2005 at 5:03 AM.

"President Bush's former Health and Human Services Secretary, Tommy Thompson, onetime Governor of Wisconsin, is getting an RFID implant. Why is he volunteering for the Mark of the Beast?" writes David Pescovitz. "Promotional reasons! Thompson is on the board of Applied Digital, owner of RFID vendor VeriChip..."

Thompson said people will eventually get beyond any queasy feelings about having a chip implanted.

'It will prevent babies from being picked up by the wrong people in a maternity ward and make sure people in nursing homes don't walk away,' Thompson said.

So far, about 7,000 chips for people have been sold, with about 2,000 implanted worldwide.

and make sure people in nursing homes don't walk away,' Thompson said.

He forgot to say "And make sure the gov't knows where you are every minute of the day." To say "as long as you're not breaking the law, why should it matter?" is a huge copout. Scary scary shit

6. Is that there way of saying they WILL be using that to determine if
you are currently breaking some law? Seems like it to me, but then I had to screw on my tinfoilhat from another post so I may not be thinking logically right now.

If I'm cruising down the road and speed up to 70 in a 65 mph zone will an advanced version of this chip be able to determine that and apply my brakes? Is that SOOOOOO far-fetched? Is this "government" driving me insane? Possibly. Why am I typing like I'm talking like rumsfeld? Don't know. Don't care. Why bother.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

OK, I just tasered myself, I'm gonna go lay down and I'll be better in 20 minutes or so.

8. From everything I've heard about RFID
is that the transmitter is VERY low power. The RFID in the new passports is supposed to be unreadable with the metal case closed around it. So if you ever do get one in your head the tinfoil hat would keep you safe ;)

My problem is that I'm sure surveillance would be able to pick up transmissions... especially if he's talking about finding people walking out of retirement homes.

10. Everyone breaks the law every day
Usually it's pretty minuscule: a blown stop sign, not swinging out quite far enough when you turn left (I once got pulled over because I made a left turn and one of my tires ran over the white line between two lanes going the same direction.*), jaywalking...anything.

Anyway, if they decide to round up everyone who breaks the jaywalking law, with RFID it's gonna make things very easy.

* I was heading home from work at 3am once in a Taurus, which as we all know is the preferred vehicle of drug kingpins and gang members. I pulled up to a red light with a cop sitting in the left-turn lane. When my light turned green, I left at a rational rate of speed...and the cop fell in about a foot off my back bumper. What goes through your mind when a cop leaves his assigned patrol route to follow you? Well, this asshole was definitely tailgating me in an attempt to get me to speed up enough to justify pulling me over, he's got his high beams on, he's waving his fucking searchlight across my back bumper...come on, dude, I'm a productive member of society and an army veteran. So I'm sitting there scared shitless of what he's gonna do to me. I got to the left turn I had to make. I made the left turn and this fuckwit turns on his lightbar, his siren, everything. Gets me out of the car and gives me the full field sobriety test, which I of course passed because I hadn't had a beer in four days. "Why did you pull me over?" 'Because when I got behind you, you started driving especially carefully, and your tire brushed the line between the two lanes of traffic on this side of the street as you made your turn.'

(And you now know why I HATE the cops in this town. The fuckers are simply here to make up for the revenue lost by tax cut after tax cut.)

14. Yeah, I think it was
Except the cops around here carry full magazines, and seeing as how Barney was the only cop in Mount Airy, he was kinda far from home.

3. Sure Tom! I don't see this happening any time soon!!!
I know I have my dogs chipped so if they're stolled, any vet can scan them and find out who they belong to, but somehow I can't transfer that logic to people!
