The 9th Amendment: Privacy IS an "unenumerated right"
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Any decent high school civics student or first year law student can tell you: The right to privacy is retained by the peopleper the 9th Amendment. Roe v. Wade affirmed this principle. Although I would have used less flowery language than "casting a penumbra", the gist is there plain to see. Liberty and privacy are inherently symbiotic for their mutual security.

Only a right-wing constitutional fundie would argue that the right to privacy is a legal fiction. They seem to only care about the enumerated rights. (Especially those found in the 2nd Amendment, not so much the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 14th).

Anytime someone argues that the right to privacy is "made up" or "doesn't exist", a red flag should go up. They are either conservative, or in denial - allowing their own anti-choice biases to cloud their judgment.

1. These are the same people who say that there is no
separation of church and state because those EXACT WORDS are not in the Constitution.

I have actually had people say that to me.

2. That's another pet peeve of mine!
Or they deny the separation of powers just because that term isn't used either, when discussing the 3 branches of government. They are usually the ones chanting "Viva Bush!" and root for his dictatorship.

5. Someone posted here awhile ago that the word "democracy"
is not in the Constitution, either.

So, if you ask one of those freaks what system of government we live under, get them to use the word "democracy." Then tell them they are wrong, because that word is not in there.

religion fell out of favor and some other religion became the majority religion. bastards.

10. Why do you think they are so anti-immigrant?
The influx of millions of catholics from south of the border threatens to displace their calvinist protestantism as the majority religion.

As soon as they figure out that the catholic immigration is not going to be stopped, they will be screaming for a separation of church and state.

Kind of silly, because as things are no Mexican politician would dare use his religion in campaigning the way nearly all US politicians do.
