1. "the far left would go mad"????
How so?

The "far left" aren't retarded, they aren't expecting Shrub to nominate Noam Chomsky or Michael Parenti.

3. Robert Bork.

The Chris Matthews of the world would be so busy chatting and babbling and creaming their jeans over his "bold" (read "utterly senseless") nomination, they'd forget everything else.

4. Things that would make somebody's head explode...
1) Clinton
2) Ashcroft
3) Bork
4) Carl Rove (I will keep my word to fire the person responsible fire the person responsible for leaking Valery Plame's name. Carl Rove is hereby fired. And, in a totally unrelated matter, I am pleased to announce that I have decided to nominate Carl Rove to replace O'Connor on the supreme court.)
5) Pat Robertson
6) Pat Buchanan
7) Dick Cheney
8) Himself (if he gets out of the way now, Dick can still serve two terms as President.)

5. Presently, we have matter of national security to deal with.
We have no control over who our tyrant appoints. We don't even have to deal with it for over a month.

We have a tyranny that has endangered our national security, which is planning to expand their war in the M.E., possibly inciting a world war. They deserve our full attention.

7. Edith Jones for starters.
Ted Olson for another. Add Prissy Owens in just for fun and misery.
Those are the worst of the worst, but I'm sure there are more.
I honestly can't see him naming President Clinton. He doesn't want to piss on his base.
