McCain Confused Over Criticism For 'Crashers' Cameo
McCain Confused Over Criticism For 'Crashers' Cameo

BURBANK, Calif. -- U.S. Sen. John McCain doesn't know why he's come under fire for a cameo appearance in the "Wedding Crashers."

The film has an R-rating for its topless scenes.

But McCain told Jay Leno that in Washington he "works with boobs every day."

Meantime, McCain said "Law and Order" district attorney Fred Thompson would make a great Supreme Court justice.

2. I am not a huge McCain fan but I don't get all the intrigue either
If Ashcroft had done this then yeah by all means I would be right in there bitching with the next person...but McCain has never struck me as any more preachy about R rated movies aimed at kids/teens than some of the Dems so what's the big deal?

I think making a big issue about McCain appearing in a movie with boobs in it is asinine

Flame away!

3. Tho' I find McCain repulsive..pretty good line about "boobs".
Considering who he works with in the senate I'd certainly have to agree with him.

4. I just saw the movie this weekend and...
you can barely even tell it's him. In fact, I didn't know for sure it was him until it was mentioned in the media. I don't recall seeing his face really. He's in it for about 10 seconds next to Carville.
As for the "boob" charge, there are a few really short scenes with the "offending" images. While the premise might seem like it's going to be nothing but Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn having all kinds of sex, that isn't exactly the case. I'm guessing the R rating is due mostly to language.

Regardless, people need to lighten up.

5. McCain
I think he might be trying to distance himself from the Neo Cons and Religious Right. He seemed somewhat carefree on Lenno last night - - -almost as if to say there's room for levity and the secular on the right.

He does have pretty good political instincts; maybe he feels it is time strike out on his own.

6. I thought he was drawing heat because he had criticized
the film industry in the past for making so many movies with nekked people and such.
