AP: "Athletes Spark White House Flip-Flop Flap" -- This is news??

CHICAGO - There's a flip-flop controversy at the White House, and this one has nothing to do with President Bush and John Kerry.

A photo of Northwestern University's national championship women's lacrosse team, taken during the athletes' visit to the White House last week, shows four of the nine women in the front row wearing flip-flop sandals along with their dresses and skirts.

The choice of footwear has prompted a mini-controversy — a flip-flop flap, if you will.

A front-page story in the Chicago Tribune included the headline "YOU WORE FLIP-FLOPS TO THE WHITE HOUSE?!" inspired by an e-mail sent to player Kate Darmody from her older brother after he saw the photo on the team's Web site.

This was on the front page of both Yahoo! and Sludge just now. And when people look back on the sad state of the media during the Bush Administration, this kind of story has got to be front and center as an example of it all. It includes a backhanded slap against last year's Democratic candidate, and is as much as a non-story as anything I've ever heard. This is beyond sad.

Under Bush Daddy, the Lakers won the title (yeah, real unusual). They were invited to the WH and presented Bush Daddy with a jersey, but when they gave it to him, it was drenched in sweat and all smelly. MJ claimed it wasn't political commentary, that they had all been very hot waiting for the event, and someone who was holding the jersey wiped his face with it without thinking, and it wound up getting passed down the line, and everyone wiped their face with it, so it was sweaty when they gave it to Bush.

No doubt it was an insult. Bush was a racist like Reagan, and the mostly black Lakers knew it. Giving Bush a shirt drenched in their sweat was no accident. Not as impressive as Jessie Owens (not many sports moments are), but still pretty cool.

WTF you go into a store to buy a pair of shoes, and they all look basically the same. Different color, texture but it's still a sandal or a flip flop. It's the in thing for whatever reason. I wore last years shoes because I didn't want to wear flipflops this year. Honestly that is all that seemed to be available.

I heard this on MSNBC coast to coast. The wanna be coulter was just offended that people showed up to meet * with flip flops on, said it was disrespectful.

So let me get this right: Invading another country, Outing a CIA agent, Stealing an election (twice), Lying repeatedly to the American public, bankrupting the Middle class and the rest of the country, Is OK.
But meeting the asshole (who does all of the above) in flip flops.. BAD?
