First draft of my Rove lTTE. cowards in the White House
first draft of my letter:

the first paragraph seems awkward.

I have been watching the Rove scandal slowly unfold. Even though the scandal revolves around the action of a hand full of men in the White House, the people who have had to pay the price are women.

It as a cowardly act to attack a man's family to extract revenge. If they had a beef with Joe Wilson, they should have addressed him personally. The second concerns Judith Miller. Someone in the White House is letting Ms Miller rot in jail for their misdeeds. That is not the act of an honorable man.

If I had a friend that did something like that to a woman, our friendship would end.

I want to shift away from the legal to the personal. The legal can drag on forever, but pointing out how cowardly their actions have been could be a good way to frame the debate.

Men do not attack another man's family. Men do not attack women. Men do not let women pay for their crimes.

2. Good point!
and the crux of it for me is "HONORABLE."
I am so glad my father, an honorable man, is not around to see this.

For all we know, it could be Condi Rice or another woman.

4. My minor edit of the "awkward" first graf:
As the Rove scandal unfolds, I can't help but note that even though the scandal revolves around a very few men in the White House, the people who have had to pay the price are women.

And keep it gender-specific, methinks. Your not-so-subtle point is, that the Bushites aren't even capable of being gallant.

5. Bingo! This is aimed at a red state crowd.
I want to point out that they are not honorable men, they are cowards.

Thanks. I like your wording.

6. Maybe you could also work in what they did to Mrs. McCain - that
was disgusting, and McCain did not fight back for her.

7. And Don't Forget
Rove's retribution to Wilson was by attacking his wife and destroying her identity. according to Wilson, his wife suffered a great deal by the outing. Her friends didn't know what she did for a living - she said in the book she wasn't sure if she'd have any friends left.

9. Yeah, that's something I'd love to put in, but I want to keep
it short and to the point.

Here's what I have so far.

I used the bunkerbuster1 suggestion, then made some more changes.

It's getting close.

As the Rove scandal unfolds, I can't help but note that even though the scandal revolves around a very few men in the White House, the people who have had to pay the price are women.

It was a cowardly act to attack a man's family to extract revenge. If they had a beef with Joe Wilson, they should have taken it out on him, not his wife. Another casualty in this scandal is Judith Miller. She has gone to prison to protect her sources. Someone in the White House, (her source) is letting Ms Miller rot in jail for their misdeeds. That is not the act of an honorable man.

If I had a friend that did something like that to a woman, our friendship would end.
