I was...several times.

I'd be sitting at a bus bench, in the store, at a movie, ... Some guy would come up to me and pretty much, point blank, ask me if I was interested in sex, usually a blow job.

I'd say it started when I was 10 and tapered off when I was about 14.... I admit...it freaked me out and I usually went nuclear on the guy who solicited me. I did a pretty good job of scaring them off.

I'm new to school, and during recess I like to wander around the premises out of pure curiosity (it's a HUGE complex, with lots of buildings and gyms and play fields and storage areas and other things). In retrospect I probably should have been a little more proactive in dealing with the situation, but I just told her that it would be best if we pretended it never happened so both of us would stay out of trouble.

And that wasn't the first time that kind of thing happened either. I had a female roommate who sometimes baby-sat (not really the right term for taking care of a 12-year-old girl) at our place. One evening she--the 12-year-old--decided to give us--two men and a woman, all twenty-something--a very graphic strip show.

I'm sure glad I'm old and bald now, so teenage girls just go "ewww-gross!" when they see me.

It's a long story that I do not wish to discuss in depth on the internet, but I swear by all that is holy, it's true.

This was a long time ago when evangelical ministers were in the habit of preaching "the circuit route" all over the country (mainly in the South, I believe, although I could be wrong about this).

These preachers usually had no congregation of their own. They would move from church to church -- from state to state -- for the purpose of preaching at week-long Revivals.

Back then, there were many more charlatans in the "evangelical business" of Revivalism. (I know that there were many true Christian Evangelical Revival preachers back then, too, so I'm not criticizing them all per se.)

Anyway, these preachers would usually stay in a town for a week or so at a time, preaching to the congregation, enjoying the luxury of free meals and free lodging in the homes of the congregation, accepting "monetary offerings" from them and "a fee" from the church.

Then they would move on to another church often in another state (which is probably the reason that this vile man felt free to do what he did).

I feel certain that he has long since died (he was old even back then) because my own childhood was so very long ago, but I've often wondered how many innocent young people he left in his wake over the years.

I never told anyone about him (not until I was an adult) because as a child I assumed that it was I who had done something wrong, which was/is still a common occurrence, I believe.

I dunno about pedophilia. One of my college friends realized he was gay at 12 or 13 and got himself sugar daddied for four years before college, then at 19 or 20 found himself a 15 year old he sugar daddied for two or three years. Even explained the "pay scale" to me- the older the guy you have the sugar daddy relationship with, the more you can expect, etc. Said a good-looking 18 year old getting into this sort of thing with an average-looking 45 year old could basically demand a nice little new car, say a Honda Civic, for a couple of months or a year of compliant, uh, service. And that, well, you had to know your worth and the market and that cunning, manipulation, blackmail, sexual and financial power plays, betrayals, charades etc. were the coin of the realm. A game without rules except that he who has the power makes the rules, aka immoralism. The more I find out about gay Republicans, especially the older ones, the more the picture I get of them utterly locked into that particular closet, into its immoralism. It's perhaps why these dirty games that Party plays seems to have so many closeted gay men from that part of gay society- the experts from experience.

Okay, long digression, but there are some 15 and 16 year olds out there who are players. And there are gay men who go out and try to find them, or even slightly younger pubescent teens who are fully closeted, aggressively. I'm not sure it's pedophilia, but it's intentionally or unintentionally predatory.
