Ann coulter and her followers believe in the destruction of liberalism. There might be a few over there who deluded themselves into thinking we can get along, but the truth is we can't.

On the plus side, Ann Coulter and her narrow-minded followers don't completely define conservatism - they are powerful within the movement; but they aren't the whole thing.

I live in an area full of Hassidic Jews and Muslims, and they get along fine. There are many Israelis who are sympathetic to the Palestinians' plight, and many Palestinians who have nothing personal against Israelis.

The KKK and the Nazis aren't races of people, they are organisations that individuals join by choice, and they are racist by definition. The Jewish and Muslim peoples are not. This "all Jews and Muslims hate each other" crap is exactly what the "nuke the Middle East" crowd wants everyone to think.

If you check your history, you'll find that Jews and Muslims didn't have any problem with each other until the whole Israel thing got started. Don't take it too hard... I was surprised when I found out too. Hassidic or Orthodox Jews generally have no animosity towards Muslims... I believe Muslims have historically had more beef with Hindus than with Jews up until recent times.

Like I said, in my area, they get along fine. The Muslim and Jewish schools are literally one building apart from each other, and as far as I know there hasn't been any religious violence in the three years I've been here. Come round my area around 3pm, or in the evening after the community centres close for the day, and you'll see two huge groups of Jews and Muslims congregating by the roadside, not particularly intermingling but only a couple of feet apart, and not a harsh word to be heard, let alone a gunshot or suicide bomb. But hey, don't let my everyday experiences of actually living in this area get in the way of your preconceptions.

(In fact, when I typed "jews muslims violence <the name of my area>" in Google, the first hit I get is a site called "Jews for Justice for Palestinians".)

To repeat, the idea that the Middle Eastern races are some spitting, seething, warlike mass who all hate each other is pure fantasy, proprogated by people who have no interest in the welfare of any of those races. And the idea that you can compare entire races to racist organisations like the KKK and Nazis is pretty damn offensive - in fact, it's the kind of blanket thinking that lies at the heart of racism.

I'm going to assume you're white, and, referring to our original argument, say "Yeah, expecting FR and DU to get along is like expecting black people and white people to get along." Sounds pretty fucking stupid, don't it... but, by your thinking, these two groups "all" have as much reason to hate each other as "Jews" and "Muslims".

And the "I'll assume you're white" comment was intended only in the context of my example about "blacks and whites not getting along", which itself was said for the sake of argument. You seem to be implying now that you're Jewish, and I can only express sorrow that you seem to genuinely believe that every single Palestinian on the face of this earth wants you dead. My advice is to read Joe Sacco's Palestine and watch a little less TV.

when you cant calmly go over facts, weight various options, and then come to a conclusion?

If someone is honestly willing to do that, it shouldn't matter too much if one of us starts further left and one further right--the facts themselves often narrow the range of action.

But if someone won't even go through that process, they are implicitly admitting that their ideas can't win fairly. It's like playing chess with a football player. He'll make one or two moves, then beat you over the head with the board.
