I STILL Don't Understand
Why are the Republicans still trying to discredit Wilson? Hasn't it been proven that the Niger docs WERE forgeries? Hasn't it been proven TRUE that Wilson's statement that Saddam attempting to purchase uranium was unlikely. What do they expect to get by discrediting Wilson? Does that make the Niger docs authentic in their minds?

I don't get it at all.

1. If you keep telling the Big Lie often enough and loudly enough
you, at the very least, can confuse a lot of people, if not outright deceive them.

2. That is what they do. Lie shout character assassinate, Repeat.
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 03:14 PM by Vincardog
They know the truth is not on their side. They hope to repeat their lies until the American Public's attention is diverted by the next media event. The Aruba thing is not catching on as they would like.
What will they have to do? nuke a West Coast city?

7. Ha! I liked your joke
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 03:25 PM by iwillalwayswonderwhy
My screen name goes back to the 2000 election. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that the election would even be CLOSE. I don't understand why it was close enough to be stolen. I will always wonder why anyone ever thought he'd be a good president.

I guess the discrediting of Wilson is just white noise ranting to have something to say back?

4. If you study Rove's history...
...He has always not just squelched the assertions of his opponents. He also goes after them to ruin their lives. Read "Bush's Brain" or at least see the film based on that book. It's a good primer on how Rove operates.

8. Here's the problem,
if you believe Wilson, then you know the WMD stories were false. *They* still believe WMD will be found (or whatever justification they can come up with) so *Wilson is a traitor who is trying to bring down the president*.

12. It wasn't a "key judgment"
On the nuclear weapons claims. Then again, they don't tell you that one of the "key judgments" was the aluminum tubes, which has also been debunked.

They also say Iraq was trying to buy yellowcake from Somalia and some other African country. That's probably been debunked too, I really don't remember. But if it has been, it's in a different filing cabinet so it doesn't count towards the Niger debunking. Kind of like how they do their budgeting.

16. Because the case also is about the smearing of a whistle-blower
so their defense is to discredit the whistle-blower, it's not really about about Rove leaking. If they can make the case that the whistle-blower was blowing smoke, then, at least in their minds, what they were doing was preventing the spread of false information.
