Where Is Everybody? Top Repubs MIA!
On a thread I just read people were remarking on the absence of so many Republican talking heads in this Rove matter. We all know them. The old reliables that are trotted out every other time the Bush Administration gets itself in a pickle. Where are they? Why aren't they making their evening rounds, spouting their spin and Rovian talking points?

Who is MIA?

Cheney (checked himself briefly into a Vail cardiac clinic, checked himself out, and now is incommunicado).

Rummy (remarkably absent - haven't seen much of him since trying to defend himself and Cheney's "death throes" assessment of Iraq before the Senate panel -- the one where Kennedy asked him if it wasn't time he resigned)

Bolton (awfully quiet lately and we haven't heard much about the recess appointment to UN Ambassadorship)

Matalin (usually an attack dog - awfully quiet and no TV appearances)

Hughes (Bush's reliable mouthpiece - nowhere to be found)

Powell (Reportedly out of the country and unavailable for comment on the State Department Memo)

Rice (likewise out of the country on impromptu overseas visits)

Hadley (no comment on Rove's e-mail or why Rove saw fit to send it to him)

McClellan (getting pasted for stonewalling his press conferences and now, in a rare break with tradition, apparently, has decided to skip some daily press briefings)

We're seeing a lot of Mehlman, Peter King, and Kay Bailey Hutchison -but these aren't the Repub heavy hitters.

And last night on NOW, Christine Todd Whitman, former EPA head, as much as says that Rove should resign "if the story has legs".

I'm wondering if something's up here.

Any thoughts?

1. I Was Alluding to This in Another Post
I believe they are preparing for an Administration that is about to go down in flames. They are backing far away. So far that it's become obvious.

Rove is just the tip of the iceberg.

EDIT to add some links for clarification

Memo Is a Focus of CIA Leak Probe
By Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei

Federal prosecutors investigating the leak of former CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity have asked several witnesses in the case whether they read a State Department memorandum mentioning her that circulated inside the Bush administration in the days before she was publicly named, according to people familiar with the testimony.

3. Could be they are scared out of their wits. Hutchison
is clueless and doesn't mind the face time even though she looks and sounds like she is clueless. How in the world did that woman get elected!

4. NORAD or hiding
If NORAD, here comes 9/11 part 2, if in hiding, they grabbed the money and ran.

5. *LOL* Ya' think they're trying to figure a way to cover up their cover up?

They are wise to keep their big traps shut,...particularly since everything that flows from their mouths are lies and misrepresentations.
