2. It's not Rovegate but "Intimigate"
To intimidate others in the intelligence community. And McGovern says that it worked. Not one in the intelligence community around the world, who knows about the administrations lies about going to war, has come forward to say so.

3. McGovern said that in talking to Joe Wilson (before his op-ed
about the deceit of war propaganda) he asked Wilson if he knew who the ambassador sent to Africa who had uncovered the lie might be. Wilson said "me" and McGovern said he should go public. Wilson replied he intended to and he knew they would come after him with everything they had. He knew who he was up against, and went forward anyway. A brave and honest man. He may not have realized that they would destroy a whole CIA operation to get him (or maybe that was a bonus - my thoughts, not Mcgovern's comments), but he knew they would be utterly ruthless and unprincipled.

4. Thanks for that. That's something I haven't heard before.
I tuned in during the series of commercials.

5. Webb says he interviewed Wilson
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 11:50 PM by eleny
And Wilson told him that he went to anyone who would listen to ask them to advise the president not to talk about Niger uranium because it wasn't true that Saddham tried to buy some. Webb said that Wilson said he even spoke to Colin Powell about this.

7. I heard that the last straw, before going public
was an approach to Kindasleazy when she said to get lost.

11. So, if he went to Powell before Bush's speech to the nation...
And told Powell the evidence wasn't there for the uranium - it makes Powell look even worse. This is so disgusting.

6. McGovern's got it right: "Joseph Wilson is very patriotic."
I think about all the good things Wilson has done for the country & it sickens me how this administration has treated him because he was trying to do the right thing.

He was the one who saved American lives & harbored hundreds of Americans at his embassy quarters in Iraq during the Gulf War when Hussein threatened them. He publicly defied Hussein & said he (Hussein) could come & get him, holding up his necktie in a nooselike fashion.

10. McGovern: "Judith Miller is going to jail to protect Judith"
Suggests she was part of the whole operation and telling the truth would bring worse consequences.
