1. The Perp Walk

I Have A Dream . . .

In my dream, Karl Rove is walking with U.S. Marshalls on either side of him, in his nondescript brown suit, his hands in handcuffs behind his back. He's leaning forward, as if to get out of camera-range as soon as possible. His wisp of hair flutters with the air pressure of the speed of his walk. His face is ashen. He glances down. He does not look side to side. Soon his back fades from view behind a large concrete pillar. There is a brief flash as a glass door opens, then closes.

It is a bright sunny day. The news anchors break for commercial.

People say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.

The Intake Marshall doesn't look up from his desk. His wizened hand reaches for another intake form.

"Name?"
"Don't you know me?"
"Name?"

"Offense?"
"No, I don't take offense."
"Offense?"
"Depends on what you mean."
"Offense?"
"Now, I wouldn't ask the question that way."
"Offense?"
"Well, I AM taking offense now."
"Psychiatrist?"
