Put ICE on your cell phone
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 09:39 PM by Lilli
Mobiles 999 contact idea spreads
"A campaign encouraging people to store personal details on their mobile phones to help identify victims of accidents and disasters has taken off since the bomb attacks in London.

Users are being urged to enter a number in their phone's memory under the heading ICE - In Case of Emergency.

Paramedics or police would then be able to use it to contact a relative.

The idea is the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic Bob Brotchie and was launched in May..."

Seems like a great idea to me!

5. I already keep a few things like that on my cell.....
The code for my car key, for example.

But ICE is a winner.

8. I think it's a terrific idea and Bob Brotchie ought to get some bucks
(or pounds sterling) for thinking of it. :D

10. This would work for any situation
where the victim was unconscious, or deceased. Cant hurt to have it on there...if the phone doesnt work it just puts everything back to square one.

The benefits for getting word to families sooner, and the other potential benefits makes it win-win for me.

23. Has the campaign spread to the USA yet?
How many paramedics, police and fire fighters in the USA would know enough to look up ICE?

Good concept- but where is it practical?

I'm forwarding it to my state's emergency service departments.
