The WH is delusional if they think these leaks help Rove ...
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 09:33 PM by Zen Democrat
Reading the leaks today make it perfectly obvious that the White House was aware that Rove had discussed outing Plame with reporters contemporaneous with the leaking.

The Repukes are parsing to find glimmers of innuendos that they can slant to make Rove look innocent ... but the essential fact is that the White House KNEW and knew at the time it was happening and then lied about it all.

That's the story in these "leaks" -- and the breathless spinning going on by Mehlman and surrogates in the media shows just how desperate they are to shift the focus from Rove to ANYONE.

Oh, and wait a minute ... this business about Rove can't remember who it was in the media that told him Wilson's wife was CIA. That's laughable. The most transparent and weak lie in this entire matter. Karl Rove testified under oath that he doesn't recall who told him. He seems to recall everything else, doesn't he?

All the posters here at DU who are doom and glooming this have me baffled. Whatzamatta you????

1. And another thing ... Why aren't we hearing from Rove himself?
Why is he sending his little puppets out to take fire for him. He's free to talk. Anybody can discuss their own grand jury testimony. He's hiding behind Bush's skirt, trying to look confidant.

Rove has an MO and he's following it to a T. This time he's gone to the well one too many times.

Karl, you magnificent bastard --- WE READ YOUR BOOK!!!!!

2. The spinners are guilty of obstructing justice and covering up,...
,...the most heinous crimes against this country and her people.

They should be pulled into the investigation since they are holding themselves out as having knowledge about the outing of both a CIA agent and a CIA cover that was infiltrating the proliferation of WMDs. They should have their asses placed directly upon that fire.

4. I agree. Mehlman is known as Rove's protege.
He's been groomed in lying, spinning, creating diversions. And when the victims of a campaign of lies and deceit are the American people and the Constitution of the United States of America, I consider that to be treasonous activity.

3. And remember, the leaks we're seeing are probably the best
stuff he has. We haven't seen the stuff that's got Fitzgerald concerned.

5. I think the Supreme Court and Time Magazine releasing emails
caught the WH by surprise and they have been in a frenzy to find some kind of spin that will work. It hasn't been successful. It took them a week to come up with a spin on the settled testimony that Rove confirmed Plame's identify to Novak. And if this is the best they could come up with ... there's a lot of burnt toast at the WH.

Ultimately, I think it's the Supreme Court who most surprised the WH. They never dreamed they wouldn't get a 5-4 decision to protect them from this widening scandal. We have heard that O'Connor postponed her retirement for a few years because of her concerns with Bush's extremism. And now Rehnquist plans to stay on, sick as he is. I think Bush may be down to Scalia and Thomas on the Supreme Court.

6. Again, don't you people understand
it all depends on what the meaning of the word "leaked" is. Don't you get that :D

7. It may depend on what the meaning of "criminal plot" is ..
O'Donnell said tonight on Lou Dobbs that the papers in this case relating to the judge's orders on Miller and Cooper refer several times to "a criminal plot against Joe Wilson and his wife."

8. I'm certain if the traitor Rove is sent to Guantanamo (Gitmo) we could
legally torture him to tell the truth about this filthy administration!

11. We could tie him up to a side of a wall and play Barbra Streisland
songs day and night until he breaks.
