TROUBLE: Christians to "confront" mosque in Denver. "Battle of the ages"
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 08:04 PM by Bluebear
Holy cannoli, what is this country becoming?

=====

Contact: Pat McEwen, media liaison for Operation Save America, 321-431-3962 cell, patatlci@yahoo.com

DENVER, July 15 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Operation Rescue / Operation Save America will bring the Gospel of Christ to the largest Mosque in Colorado. We are compelled to bring this message to those lost in the murderous bondage of Islam because of the worldwide persecution and murder of Christians. The recent resurgence of terrorist activities in London is nothing less than the lie of Islam!

Who is the true God? The one who call us to love our enemies and overcome evil with good (Jesus), or one who calls us to hate our enemies and murder them in the name of Allah?

This is the battle of the ages: Christianity vs. Islam; Gospel of Life vs. Gospel of Death

Press Conference Details---

Where: Colorado Muslim Society, 2071 South Parker Road, Denver, Colorado

When: Saturday, July 16, 2005, 10:30 AM

Contact: Pat McEwen, Media Liaison, to schedule Interviews 321-431-3962 or send crew directly to mosque.

"I just received this quote from Rusty. He read it to me yesterday and it really resonated within my spirit. This will serve as the “Continental Divide” from which we launch our event in Denver. We can no longer waiver between two opinions (1 Kings 18:21) . We are either going down one side or the other – the balancing act at the top of the mountain (Republican v. Democrat) is over! We have been tossed in jail, sued for millions, vilified by the media, vilified by the church, and hated by the world. We are off the reservation and have no intention of going back. As a matter of fact, we aren't allowed to go back. Thank God that we don't go alone – Jesus is with us. The gates of hell cannot prevail!-- Flip

45. "I pray that we aren't in Iraq to spread the gospel."
There was an article that was published a couple of days ago (I will try to find the link) that says that evangelical churches are being built in Iraq, and it is causing some understandable concern to not only the Muslum faithful, but also the Iraqi Christian community.

One more hidious cause of the death of American servic people and Iraqis.

I am amazed that this kind of trash is happening in this country. I guess when you have a radicalized leadership, the radicalized in a populace gets all excited and is prepared to push and burn the envelope.

It's happened in smaller countries (Rwanda being the first that comes to mind). No sense in believing it can't happen here.

89. well said...very important
I think interfaith work is one of the most critical things of our time. I seriously think the vast majority of religious people are reasonable and love peace and justice, but they need to stand together against the extremists in their sects. The moment that peaceful jews christians and muslims stand together against extremism in all of the above groups is the moment that the true war on terrorism will start to be won.

just as the Muslims have said all along! Imagine that! :eyes:

When people go looking for trouble, they usually find it. If these "Christians" expect to take their Crusade to the Muslims unabated, they're in for a bit of a surprise I'll wager. These idiots just can't resist pushing their god down everyone's throat. If a group of Muslims in America did the same thing, they'd be shot. Really, they'd be shot as terrorists.

I know there's a lot of Christians here on DU, I mean REAL Christians. But I swear, some of the people that claim to worship the same god as you are totally fucked up. What is WRONG with these people? :wtf:

90. Amen.
Knowing God is about loving God and putting your faith in Him, within you. Being an extremist is about putting your faith in something outside of you, usually the guy standing at the altar telling what God thinks. The True God doesn't need anybody to TELL you what he thinks, he will come into your heart directly when you quiet it in seeking truth. The other guy is a manipulator.

You never hear the Methodist, Presbteryian etc. group's doing this. Not even my group does this (Church of Christ). Yes, we go out and campaign and things like that but we don't bother people to death like this. Every so often we'll have volunteers go around neighborhoods and place inside people's mailbox's an invitation and that'd be it.

Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 08:37 PM by hobbit709
the same treatment they got in Austin a few years back. The first day of "Operation Rescue" about a thousand of them got hauled off to jail. Then they all whined and cried about how they were put in the holding tanks with the drunks and the whores, strip-searched and fingerprinted. The police chief stated that they treated no different than anyone else that was arrested. The second day about 200 got busted-getting the same treatment-more whining. The third day they called off the week-long demonstrations because nobody wanted to get arrested. Some martyrs!!!!
Austin doesn't take kindly to that kind of do-gooders. Back in the late 1800's, Carrie Nation of hatchet fame was run out of town for trying to shut down the saloons on Pecan(now 6th) Street

This is getting out of control. Whatever happened to respect? As Rodney Dangerfield used to say: "No respect. I get no respect at all." And as someone else mentioned if this was anybody else doing this to them they would cry and whine they're being persecuted. :eyes: Even if they were Catholics or Methodists or some other forum of Christianity. :eyes: It's really lame and ridiculous in deed. Nobody else does this kind of crap except the Baptist group. Of course I could be wrong but whenever I hear about something like this it's always the same people. Someone should warn this town they're going to in Colorado.

30. QueerAllies:alliance between gay marriage opponents,terrorist sympathizers
The little-noticed alliance between gay marriage opponents and alleged terrorist sympathizers

http://www.jewishworldreview.com | The Massachusetts Supreme Court decision to legalize homosexual marriage in the Bay state re-ignited the culture wars. The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, perhaps the preeminent liberal Jewish organization in Washington, DC, applauded the ruling. Religious-minded conservatives, however, were horrified. They are determined to stop the gay rights movement in its tracks. At what price?

JewishWorldReview.com has discovered that prominent religious conservatives — Jews, Catholics and Evangelical Christians — are allied with a radical Islamic group to stop gay marriage. Pushing a constitutional amendment that would restrict marriage to heterosexuals, they work with the Islamic Society of North America. What is ISNA? According to terrorism expert Steve Emerson, ISNA:

<snip>

What better way for ISNA to maintain its "false veneer of moderation" than by working side by side with prominent religious figures that also bring the prestige of their institutional associations? How can critics plausibly depict the organization as extremist if it boasts the company of so many prominent Jews and Christians? Even Martin Luther King couldn't boast a working alliance with this many different members of the religious community.

Who are these religious conservatives? The Jews include a vice-president of the highly regarded Rabbinical Council of America, who is also known as "Lieberman's rabbi" because the Connecticut senator and presidential candidate attends his synagogue; one of Reform Judaism's most highly visible rabbis known for his frequent TV appearances as the Jewish half of the two man "God Squad,"; an Orthodox rabbi who is one of the heads of the most highly regarded kosher supervision agency in America; a former aide to President Ronald Reagan and official in the subsequent Bush administration; and an Orthodox rabbi who wants to unite Christians and Jews.

33. The Muslim establishment here and abroad has denounced most liberal values
I'm not speaking of Muslim people in general, but the Muslim leadership has not only failed to embrace most liberal values such as gay rights, they have been actively campaigning against them.

It pisses me off that the same people demanding tolerance and understanding for their own people are so un-willing to hold themselves to the same standard.

The Muslim leadership has done everything they possibly can to piss-off the only Americans willing to stand beside them-- Liberals.

While individual people of the Muslim faith have my compassion and understanding, to their leaders and clergy, I say that until you're willing to lead by example, I for one won't be standing beside you.

Good luck, guys.

40. what ever happened to that silly notion
that America 'embraced' ....
the one that went 'I may not believe in what you say, but I will defend until death, your RIGHT to say it?"

Should we not 'support' the wrong being done to the 'average' Muslim, because of the loud voices of the few-?

Then no one should support those of us Americans, who don't share the twisted views held by the LOUD extreemists, that speak 'for us' to the world-

WE have to 'stand true' to what we believe in, even if we don't 'like' the words the 'leaders' have to say-
If not, we are twice the bigots they are, because we 'claim' tolerance, and acceptance, but are not willing to back that up with action.

ANY 'extreem' wing of any 'religion, govt, party, or group, usually gets the 'attention' but speaks for the minority-

43. Yes, you're right. And I'm internally conflicted about the whole thing
We could either:

1) Leave them twisting in the wind and tell them it's because they won't "play nicely" with the only ones who would otherwise be willing to stand by them.

2) Stand by them while reminding them that we're doing it despite their un-willingness to show the same compassion and tolerance to others.

3) Go balls-to-the-wall for them and have gay rights organizations and NARAL and NOW-- all the groups the Islamic Hierarchy hates most-- stand beside them.

I don't know what to do anymore.

The world doesn't make sense, and sometimes I don't either.

Fuck it.

I'm going to watch Battlestar Galactica.

79. That's probably best, but depending on my mood...
I might be a little too enthusiastic about "rubbing their nose in it."

If their leadership wants to protect them, then their current policy of "let's preach hate, but ask for tolerance" isn't serving them well.

It's like they're putting their own people in danger and then asking liberals to defend them and quite frankly, the policies of their leadership don't exactly encourage me to come to their defense.

Someday Muslims need to say to their leaders, "Hey, Ayotolah... this whole hate the gays thing is pissing-off the American liberals who want to protect us. Can we please cut that out? At least in America? We can still hate gays in Iran, okay?"

52. I think you may be missing a nuance that has nothing to do with religion.
You may be missing the corporatic exploitation that underlies that wedge. There are Muslim leaders who reach towards tolerance and those who seek the same power all our extremist power mongers and profiteers seek.

Be careful. Avoid congregating the caring with the takers.

93. I really don't think that they'd believe Jesus was a prophet of
Islam. In fact, the church declared Islam a heresy many a century ago.

Issa apparently pointed to Muhammed and was Muslim.

Their Jesus didn't point to Muhammed and was Jewish (sometimes observant, sometimes not, depending on the group).

gay bars, other 'places of sin', praying for the people who go there

he claimed in a sermon in Tulsa that some gay bars in CO Springs closed down as a direct result of this

he also advocates marching/praying arnd a city

after he preached in Tulsa, some students decided to pray arnd a mosque in Tulsa......the janitor or maybe security guard stopped them and then called the cops......the school did a major apology and told the students to 'be more careful in future attempts to save Muslims'

74. I hope so too
Maybe someday when we're all old we're sitting around with our families and/or in our church home's and saying to ourselves "what were they thinking back then?" Last Sunday at my church in the college class one of the adult helpers who used to teach (taking a break now) and he told how we should be working together whether we're liberal or conservative. I have found personally from talking with others who may be more conservative to me that in the end we agree more then we disagree. I'm very very far left but I've agreed numerous times with people at my church my age who I know are all pro-Bush (my brother and I are the only one's who aren't). So I think it's just some small group of people.

I forgot who I'm talking to. There's no such thing as respect. :eyes: So much information about Islam out there. In the Quran it actually denounces the murder of innocents especially women and children. If these people would take the time to talk to a real live Muslim or research it themselves maybe they'd know.

I sure hope Aurora and Denver's finest will see to fit that these Talbornagains have a lengthy visit to their fine facilities.

I live near the Colorado Muslim Society (about 3 miles) and never had any issues with them. Those people are very humble and quiet. Why those Talbornagains are disturbing them - I'll never know.

EDIT: DU'ers have suggested recruitment forms. Great idea! I'll print out a couple and head over there by 10:30 tomorrow morning and pass them all out. Any "cover letters" to "attract" the Talebornagains? I'll just print the recruitment letters on the back of it.

This is unprecedented or should we say presidented. Bushco used the religious right to get into office. The born-agains take their brand of religion very seriously. Bush has declared that his god runs his show and has, not so subtly, condemed Isam. You can expect there will be attacks against the Muslim religion in this country. The enemy in Bush's, and his followers, eyes has become the Islamic religion. The radical religious element in this country would like nothing better than to declare Christianity the state religion. The corruption of the US Constitution will lead to the downfall of the United States of America if this ever comes to be.
