Terry Moran - called Fox News a "surrogate" for the administration.
At today's White House press briefing, ABC News chief White House correspondent Terry Moran called Fox News a "surrogate" for the administration.

MORAN: ... Fox News and other surrogates are essentially saying that the conversation lasted for two minutes and that the subject was ostensibly welfare reform. They’re getting that information from here, from Karl Rove.

MCCLELLAN: And, again, you’re asking questions that are related to news reports about an ongoing, continuing investigation. And you’ve had my response on that...

1. it was actually even better than that
how he phrased it... that's not exactly correct.

he said something closer to, "fox news, who's certainly a surrogate for this administration...."

3. excellent - kudos to Moran, (not our 'moran') - only trouble is the Fox
watchers won't know what 'surrogate' means if they ever hear his comment.

11. here's what he said
"...And then other Republican surrogates are getting information such as, Cooper -- the Time reporter -- called Rove on the pretense of discussing welfare reform. Bill Kristol on Fox News, a friendly news channel to you, said that the conversation lasted for two minutes and it was just at the end that Rove discussed this. So someone is providing this information. Are you, behind the scenes, directing a response to this story?"
and later:
"Well, Fox News and other Republican surrogates are essentially saying that the conversation lasted for two minutes and that the subject was ostensibly welfare reform. They're getting that information from here, from Karl Rove."

love him!

2. sweet. I have always felt FOX should be labeled "the official government..
...news agency.
....kinda like the references used to be for the commie countries. controlled press. editors jailed. seems we're heading in that direction. reporters assasssinated....wait, we're not there yet are we?

4. Actually party organs were common in our history
During much of our history newspapers acted as the "official" spokesmen for the various parties. Usually had one paper that spoke for the party in power, and one or more others that were in opposition. The difference is of course that they didn;t pretend to be otherwise!!!

8. FOX NEWS: the Official Government News Agency
This title will stand until the Democrats take back power. Then Faux News will be renamed the official opposition news agency.

Funny, ain't it?

5. Way to go, Terry!
And how exactly does one work "Joe Wilson's wife" into a conversation about welfare reform?

7. He is so cute, too. He has been consistently hard on these people.
Every time something goes down, I know that at least Terry will ask a direct question about it. A fine guy, that guy.

Plus, he's adorable as can be.

9. Sociopaths use surrogates all the time. They always use third parties.

10. I wrote to him recently
I found a ten-year-old documentary about the Nuremberg Trials that he hosted and narrated. In it, Hermann Goering makes the statement, "I never wanted this war. I did everything in my power to go through diplomatic channels to avoid it." I pointed out to Terry that those were our fuerher's exact words to the press when Blair was here visiting, and for that reason he should hold the administration's feet to the fire.
