I use "newscasters" lightly.

But I just read about a guy named Gibson on FUX saying too bad the Olympic committee didn't pick Paris, because they would have blown up Paris and who cares? (And he's assuming it had to do with the Olympics? How weird!)

Then there was someone (Brit Hume) admitting on the air that one of the first things he thought about was that the market was low because of the explosions and it was a good time to buy. Nasty man.

I know there have been several other examples. Is anyone collecting them? I want to bookmark a nice little file of them. Lovely demonstration of their complete lack of humanity going on right now.

9. Yeah, I noticed all the nastiest stuff is from FUX.
Yesterday, I broke my rule and watched cable news (I only do it when there's something huge happened or has happened) but I chose MSNBC because they seemed the least.....melodramatic and hateful.

8. I sent the link, along with a comment, to the French Consulate in Atlanta
Yeah, it probably won't do any good...but such comments should not go unchallenged.

I've got the media matters link bookmarked.

12. Great idea Solly
The media should be just as responsible for flaming remarks, just as anyone else is.

15. Just like that MSNBC poll: "Are you happy France lost the Olympics?"
The Press, and many other so-called pundits/anchors, do nothing but promote hate when they do things like that. It's irresponsible and it's very damaging.

14. I remember reading something about why Rome's
gladiator games died out around 300 A.D. -- that the general population got progressively more sick and tired of watching people slaughter each other for fun and games. Eventually people stopped paying to see them, and without the economics to support it, the games died out.

I'm hoping that eventually we'll rally and display how sick and tired we are of sociopathic pundits slaughtering our humanity with their inane commentary. They do not speak for America.

I wonder, 30 or 50 years from now, will there be a general revulsion to this period in America's history? Will the O'Reilly's and Limbaughs and FOX networks be shown as cautionary tales, and with the same contempt we show clips of speeches by the Imperial Wizard and governors of Mississippi and Alabama from 40 and 50 years ago?

If so, they are crafting their legacy every time they speak, and I hope it is a legacy of shame to fit in with our other historical shames. The rest of us who have always known better aren't going to stop with the job of making things better for everyone just because of a few crazy people in the blush of their fame. It is hopefully our children and their children who will teach and learn from this chronicle of depravity that conservatives are working so hard to build.

16. Bouncy...It's Playing The Fear Card
I kept running around my office yelling for people to take cover...Osama bin bombin is back in town. Sheesh.

Everyone and anyone who could play the fear card came out in spades yesterday and tried to make up for lost time. Look at all the ground they've lost in the past couple months. We needed a good dose of fear and scare to getting us "back in line". :sarcasm:

What gets me is how they think this dead cat continues to bounce. Plus how inept these "terrorists" are...if you're gonna blow up a city and want to scare people, one of the worst places to do it is by blowing off bombs inside subway tubes. There weren't good pictures of flames or smoke or people fleeing in total panic. This was "too British"..."organized chaos" was the word I heard.

Media Matters & Crooks & Liars has been doing a good job on keeping track of all this silliness.

Peace...
