The Power of Suggestion
I was doing a little research because I see the Right Wing using this method to brainwash their viewers and listeners. So here's a snip of what I found:

Snip...

Trained to obey
This issue of authority is central to why most of us are inclined to think 'inside the box'. As Derren points out, 'It's important to learn how to make patterns and generalise but through it we also learn unquestioning suggestibility and authority. This leads us to accept what societal figureheads such as parents, teachers, tutors and doctors say – and even find ourselves offering their opinions as our own.' It was on this basis, then, that Derren was able to condition the shoppers in the Whitgift Centre to act outside their own free will. 'I used the tannoy as a subtle form of authority,' says Derren. 'As people are not really paying much attention to it, their subconscious takes over.

1. Very Interesting. Been a Long Time Since Power of Suggestion
chats. Use to talk about this a lot eons ago. We use to experiment with this and it actually worked, every time.

Simple: Think of being in a movie theater, or elevator and 1 person begins to clear throat, or cough. Before long others do as well.

The Power of Suggestion has been 'round for a long-time. I think TV has a lot to do with it and those powers (to be - no) that are learned "it" a long time ago.

Google "turn off your tv" and watch how much comes up. Problem is, we're all afraid we'll miss something. If we loose the internet, we're literally doomed and that's the last worry.

2. When Waiting for a Bus...
I would look up in the sky for a while and then expect to see others doing the same. It works everytime.

3. That's a good one. Forgot about that one.
Yawning. Ever tried that one. It's very catchy in a crowd. But you're mention of looking upwards reminds me of some pretty hysterical moments.

Thanks for the memories!
