Where is the friggin outrage?
I'm sittin here watching Cooper from Time mag saying"they might have fudged the information a little"PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DYING TODAY IN IRAQ and that ain't no fudge that's blood. This is no little political bump in the road as he says this is a serious crime against humanity.MSNBC had that White House in crisis day number so and so across the bottom of the screen over Clinton getting sucked off by Monica. When do we see the same outrage over this little fudge?

7. But to be fair
Edited on Mon Jul-14-03 10:51 AM by Allah Akbar
Americans really didn't give a damn about Clinton getting a blowjob either.

Not to say they shouldn't give one about Iraq.

2. Americans are letting themselves be whitewashed
the majority are hanging on to the belief that, "our president wouldn't tell a lie". Once we reach critical mass things may change.

3. Republicans care about power.
Republicans care about power.
They have it; they want to keep it.

They don't give a damn about objective morality.

Don't expect outrage unless it's aimed at a non-Republican.

4. Who reports the outrage?
The media.

Why is anyone surprised that the American media is burying this story?

Who reported the "outrage" over Clinton's blowjobs? The American media.

We're living under the American version of Mexico's PRI. Technically a democracy, but in practice a one-party rule with a party-controlled press.

5. The media won't be able to bury this story
The State of the Union message is MANDATED in the constitution. It requires the President to report on the STATE OF THE UNION. No matter what is said now -- GWB owns that speech.

It's up to him how he researches and writes it -- it is his responsibility, and he owns the words. That point needs to be made over and over.

Who cares if Tenet did or did not agree -- if Tenet wants to report, he has his own congressional committees to which he can and does report.

If Bush wants to take a poll somewher to find out if Iraq has Yellowcake mined in Niger -- fine, he can do that -- but if he puts it in the SOTU -- he owns the words. It is all called ACCOUNTABILITY -- and while GWB may think it only applies to teachers in poorly funded schools -- Guess what, Accountability applies to him too.

10. exactly!
enough with Condi Rice and George Tenet. Neither of them was the one that uttered the sixteen words. Neither of them is pretending to be President. This all comes down to Bush, the guy that gave the darn speech.

It's human nature
to be reluctant about admitting being conned. The MWs fooled the populace for eight years and there's a collective pathology in the American conscience over how easily they were manipulated. At least, I hope this is the answer. Otherwise, we as a nation are stupider than I can contemplate.

6. Americans aren't paying attention.
Most don't bother to vote. Their idea of reading material is People Magazine. They know who J. Lo is but never heard of Condi. Their idea of TV viewing is ESPN. If you asked them what the most important news story is right now, they'd come up with Kobe or Laci.

Iraq? "We kicked ass."
Bush? "Approve. Doesn't everybody?"

Simple-minded, lazy sheep.

whined to me how she didnt like Clinton, because he was an immoral man...then she went on to tell me, in confidence, about the affair she was having with another man and how worried she was her husband would find out..and then she said she voted for Bush because Clinton was immoral..

I just rolled my eyes..what more could I do.....

8. Some claim there is no outrage BUT if you talk to people on....
....your daily travels a different picture emerges. Many times I hear things like, "I'll get my revenge in Nov 2004", or, "There isn't much the average person can do until the elections", and "I'll vote for anyone the Democrats nominate just to get rid of these criminals."

So I contend that we WON'T HEAR ABOUT THIS IN THE MEDIA but there is a simmering anger going on in the heads of Average Americans. Keep the faith people, Nov 2004 is coming.

Right now people are feeling helpless thanks to this administration and the media. OH, BUT I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE I TALK TO that there are two things they cdo right here and now. I explain that if they want to do something then talk to 4 new people about the Bush administration, educate them as to what is REALLY GOING ON. Then get just 2 new people to register to vote and in Nov 2004 make a point of getting those 2 people to the polls in Nov 04 and make sure they vote Dem. People walk away feeling there is at least something they can do NOW.

And YES I do strike up conversations in check out lanes in stores and I do it purposely.
