Just back from dinner at repub/fundie inlaws...
and found out that my aunt is turning the corner!!! YES!!! We talked all about the DSM (she didn't know). I told her she never would if she didn't catch it on the net or C-Span. I info about Conyers, the petition, Bolton, etc. I had a blast tonight and spread some news too :) She gave me her email and asked me to send her some links, including DU. Just had to share.

That makes 3 people in my family who have turned in the past 4 months!

3. Great work! Keep it up
Maybe a post with your tactics would help others with kilth and kin.

Also, with your winning streak, have you thought about writing LTTE? Sounds like you do a good job winning friends & influencing people!

5. It's really true. If more people knew the truth, he'd have lost in 2004.
Now that they're forced to ask why so many soldiers have died, and their social security isn't ok, and their gas is so high, they're falling like rain.

8. Yes he did lose
Even on the other side of the world and being a non American I feel the wrongness of the election. And yes I am not alone feeling so.

7. Yes you need to fight
The Massive Surreal Mentality (MSM) and this is the way. The time is now. No one, no one want to see their country RAPE. This is what Chimp is doing to Lady Liberty. I am truly sicken by the act done in broad daylight for all the world to see. Yet many in US since to be ignorant of this.

9. Good luck with this. What happened, she just decided they are full of
crap? Did you "help" her to this conclusion or is it the cumulative weight of time and shrubco buttheadedness? Was it the war?

12. Over the past few weeks, I've just dropped info bits here and there.
Tonight, she approached me and wanted more. She started the conversation by talking about the war. Her son isn't in the military, but his company is in harms way because it does some supply work for the military over there and she's concerned with his travel. He just came back from Iraq and Israel. Got started talking on the draft, how we don't belong over in Iraq OR Iran. Did make an argument for Afghanistan

We were talking about my daughter saying that the military was in her school trying to drum up business for their military charter high school. I told her about the "no child left behind" clause that collects students names. She has some grandkids that are close to my daughter's age. She said "What? This was Bush's doing". Didn't know a thing about it. I enlighted her, gave her addresses of where to look for info.

From there, it just blossomed into a full evening talk. She made the comment that she couldn't believe we were stuck with him. That's when I started telling her about the DSM and Conyer's forums and petition. Also covered a bit about in Watergate's time, we were lucky to still control the House.

I'd say it was one of the best family dinner nights I've had in a L*O*N*G time.

My entire family, who was always more social libertarian/conservative than Christian, has moved away from the Repbulican party.

Since Reagan, we have donated probably a 100k or more to republican candidates (extended family).

I was so proud of my Dad and Uncle who sent in toatl donations to the DNC of 10k (5k top party, 3k to Senate Campaign Committee, 2k to Landrieu -- they live in Lousiana).

They will never agree with most on DU about a lot of things, but this administration and the fuckup congress has convinced them to turn the corner. Their stance on civil rights is in perfect orientation with most DU'ers.
