Have your RW acquaintances actually realized that their life was better
during the Clinton years? A lot better? And that the fact that it sucks a lot more now isn't all just due to 9/11? Is any of that beginning to sink in?

If your RW acquaintance(s) are worth millions of bucks then disregard this question.

1. My fundie RW step-grandmother sure hasn't.
Neither has my RW aunt. She said to me proudly the other day "if my daughters wanted to enlist, I'd support them 100% all the way!!"

I was like "so do it. The military is desperate for young women like your daughters." She didn't have anything to say to that. For that matter, my aunt is only 35 or so...she's free to enlist - she's healthy.

And FYI, my uncle (not the one married to the aforementioned aunt, but her brother) is a big-time corporate guy, started a company similar to Web TV about 10 years ago. He's a millionaire many, many, many times over (he just bought his house in Chester County, PA a few years back for around $6.2 mill). Anyway, my point is HE is a flaming Democrat...had Kerry signs all over his yard during the election. He and his wife donated a lot to the campaigns of PA Dems. This RW aunt of mine is his sister, so we have spent many a night wondering what exactly happened to her since most of our family is Dem. Anyway, my point is that not every millionaire is RW ;) He acknowledges time and time again that not everyone is as fortunate as he is. He even has a bumper sticker on his car that says "PROUD to pay my taxes. America is worth it". He thinks he is taxed just fine for what he makes.

2. Oh believe me I know that not all millionaires are Repubs. My point was,
that REPUBS who are worth millions need not be asked any of this because they are probably doing just great with their tax cuts.

Middle class and poor Repubs are the ones I'm curious about. Doesn't any reflection about how the U.S. went from such prosperity to constant misery/war talk in 5 short years cross any minds ever... ?

4. Never, ever crossed their minds. They just know that nasty Clinton guy
has been replaced by someone who loves Jesus and follows the will of God. Glory, glory, hallelujah, four more years, four more years.

5. Well, about my fundie step-grandmother...
(who is 26 years YOUNGER than my grandfather BTW)

Is doing MUCH worse financially than she was during Clinton. They don't have near as much money as they used to, and she lost her job in 2002 or 2003 (forget which). She just eats *'s shit politely because she's a fundie, and would literally sacrifice her job and money to have 10 Commandment displays in the courthouses in VA where they live. She, in comparison to my uncle, has a bumper sticker from the 700 Club that says "We PROUDLY pledge allegiance to one nation UNDER GOD."

3. Wow your uncle sounds great. My brother with
millions is a flaming repuke and aside from the religious issues he is in love with the brush regime. He's an atheist and I keep asking him when are they going to start teaching creationism to his 12 year old son in the Florida public schools. He says when that happens he will just put him in private school. My brother has turned into a real bigot and hates the poor. Thinks every poor person is lazy and a thief. I wonder why he tolerates me and our mother. My mother made us attend Martin Luther King's funeral as kids. I was glad we did but I'm sure my brother looks down on it today.
