5. Not an expert on Kissinger. Was he kind of neocon or "realist" or what?

7. Here's some concise info on him
An admirer of realpolitik, Kissinger pioneered the policy of détente, began strategic arms reduction talks, "opened" China, ended the protracted Vietnam War, maintained friendly diplomatic relationships with anti-Communist military governments in the Southern Cone, approved of covert CIA intervention in Chilean politics, and ended the U.S. doctrine of undifferentiated containment of the Soviet Union through direct military intervention. Kissinger's foreign policy record has made him a controversial figure amongst anti-war liberals and conservative anti-Communist hawks alike.

Some of Kissinger's critics accuse him of having committed war crimes while in government; these critics include journalist Christopher Hitchens (in his book The Trial of Henry Kissinger) and analyst Daniel Ellsberg (in his book Secrets). Although these allegations have not yet been proven in a court of law, it is considered legally dangerous for Kissinger to enter many countries in Europe and South America.

2. Loser, enabler of war, cut and run from that when it got to tough but...
...other than that, he's an all around good weasel.

He's not what you'd call a stand up guy.

Given his initial support for the war, he's not that bright either.

3. He's one of the few conservatives

I don't hate actually. I disagree with his politics (don't we all) but he seems OK. He's been on the Daily Show a couple of times, and he's pretty human.

He's alright in a way, I would show him mercy in the revolution. :sarcasm:

4. Smart and well intentioned

and essentially a liberal, even if he's hemmed in at it by a traditional upbringing. I like his optimism.

But he frustrates me...he gets things so right and then just doesn't reach the larger conclusion that's staring at him out of the story he has figured out. He runs the 5K race but falls to the ground twenty yards from the finish line.

6. Love 'em
He's got an interesting perspective and I think he's very real in his assessments. I enjoy listening to him speak. I especially enjoy his backhanded jabs at bush and conservative panelists.

11. I love him.
He seems extremely well-balanced and fair in the majority of his writings and comments. He's one of the few "journalists" (is that what he is? I'm honestly not sure) who I can't tell if he's conservative or more liberal. He's said some extremely insightful and dead-on things about the * Admin and the war in Iraq. "The Future of Freedom" is a must read, IMHO.

12. He leans to the left
He has a few good ideas...

But ultimately he reminds me a bit too much of Tom Freedman - speaks a lot, but has little relevant to say.
