My response to Rep. Devin Nunes' response on Rahall-Whitfield
This guy just makes me crazy!

Mr. Nunes:
Once again, I am just appalled that I know more about an issue than you do--truly appalling because YOU are the one voting on these situations.
I received your form letter, in response to my contacting you about the Rahall-Whitfield amendment. You say, "What many people do not understand is that more horses will suffer and be harmed if this specific amendment becomes law".
As I stated in my original letter, you need to talk to horsemen, not cattlemen. I realize that cattlemen throw alot of money at your coffers, particularly here in the Valley. But the only reason mustangs' "grazing land is limited", is because the cattle industry has all the grazing permits for these public lands in the U.S. They see horses as competing with their cattle, impinging on their profits, so rely on misinformed, or unconscionable, Congressmen to do their dirty work for them. Years ago, they used to just go out and shoot the mustangs.
I am a life-long horse lover, horse owner, and equestrian. Wild horses are part of our western heritage, and symbolize the freedom we have lost in this country. While they are not native to our environment, huge herds of industrialized cattle most certainly are not.
You say, "If this amendment should become law the only method to remove these horses will be adoption". Well, too bad. The government certainly spends far more money on less worthy causes. Shipping any horse, whether wild or domestic, overseas to be eaten, is barbaric and unacceptable. Yes, this amendment did pass the House, and long past due. I will certainly be making my feelings known to my Democratic senators from Calif.
Sincerely,
