Gimmeafrickinbreak. They've looted the treasury and funneled money to the defense investments of the Carlyle group and then used it to further suppress free speech.

Fucking crooks.

It'll be interesting to see if Micheal Moore's next film gets any screen time.

3. Oh, good
Now every goddamned cineplex will be showing all the exact same shitty movies that I'd rather die than see.

Thanks, you murderous, moneygrubbing, treasonous, disloyal bastards, for making it even easier for me to ignore the movie listings.

4. Old news
Think the purchases were made about 1 year ago. Has there been a new development?

5. The merger between AMC and Leows is not old--they purchased
Leows last year. The merger just happened.

8. OK
I didn't see any links to the current development. Knew that Carlisle had bought Lowes last year.

6. Digital media is rendering the movie theater obsolete.
So feel good in knowing Carlyle will lose some cash on these deals.

7. That's awful!
There was a time that at least one house of AMC theaters (on West side, here in Southern California) was reserved for art films and indies. Guess that won't be happening anymore...

11. All the more reason....
to go see indie films at the Laemmle or Landmark theaters.

75% of mainstream movies are crap anyway, especially since most of them are remakes or sequels.

9. now i will feel guilty going to the movies
even though most of it is garbage, there are still a few good films that get released in the big chain theaters.

10. TV & newspapers stink; movies will now stink; the Internet is next
I hate to say it, but I know they'll use spam, viruses, porn and identity theft to justify censoring and monitoring the Internet
