The longest day wanes ..
An ink-black tree line plays with the late, grey-tinged sky. Flannery O'Conner often wrote about it. From now on (until the winter solstice) the dark will lengthen. That will serve the Bu$h regime better. They hate the light. I just hope that the republic survives until the winter solstice. Somehow, I think that it will not. I think another totally un-anticipated wave of fear is coming soon. It will be so horrendous that the Bu$h polls will jump back to 75% approval. Then there will be no elections in 2006.

1. Mac, I don't think I have ever seen you this down before.
Not even in the wake of 9/11...

Has something happened or is this just a feeling of dread???

2. Thanks for noticing, Laura
It is just an overwhelming feeling of dread and doom. It relates only to our government and media, not to my dear family and friends. With them (and you and DU) I am fine. But it is fair to say that Bu$h is making me crazy. I cannot quantify my hate for that Mo-Fo.

Mac

8. I think a lot of people are feeling kind of edgy right now.
I see a lot of it lately. Lots of fear about the future, lots of anger, lots of dread. I'm very glad to hear you aren't feeling it around anyone in your immediate circle (those you love.)

Mac, I know you are ex military, and I can't begin to imagine how it must feel to see what the Asswipe (I don't use his name if I can avoid it, so I have my OWN neurosis going--it isn't just you!) is doing to our country. You gave up a lot to serve, as have all our military people, and it must cut to the bone to see our nation being raped the way it is.

I have a faith in the American people. I honestly think that the people of this country will figure it out and they will show the same resolve and passion that they did after Pearl harbor and after 9/11. Only THIS time the passion will be directed at fixing the mess created by the current regime.

We are capable of amazing feats in this country, and we have done some pretty astounding stuff in our history. I don't think that spirit is dead and I don't think it CAN be extinguished by some idiot that can barely speak the English language.

Keep the faith. We will come thru this. Guys like you paved the way for it, and we won't go astray now.

Peace to you, brother!

Laura

4. I hate them too, and I've never hated anyone really.
I keep going by telling myself it can't go on forever. The odds are against such evil continuing unabated forever. I hope.

9. I know what you mean pie.
At first I tried to convince myself that MAYBE they weren't as bad as I thought, then 9/11 and it's been downhill from there. I've been actually shocked at how such hate permeates your life. Sometimes feels like an exorcism is needed! Hell it is, for the WH. Evil is as evil does!
It's good for something though, it keeps me fighting these psychos!

5. Powerful graphic. I get your feelings. And - I must work to remember
that thoughts have power. If we give in to the fear and dread it will serve * purposes perfectly. If we resist and continue to focus on real, dramatic solutions - tell the truth; impeach; restore Congress to a branch of government separate from the executive - it will be a lot less dark. This moment in history is not as dark as it has ever been and I have faith that we are not alone.

7. I've been grouchy and edgy all day
Kind of like getting so tired of it all and feeling helpless and hopeless.
I may go make some chocolate pudding--want some?
