Poll question: Bewitched vs. fundie/evangelicals. "MSM" Poll!
For my 1700th post, I was going to ask how you thought the fundies would react to "Bewitched", but then I remember the collective shit fit they had over the "Harry Potter" movies.

They are almost certainly going to freak out and talk about satanism in the guise of comedy, especially considering the way they've been emboldened by their contribution to their hero's "mandate".

How do you think the post "mandate" press will react to the freaking out of the fristians?

1. Are they freaking out?
That would be pretty funny.

I heard there was a controversy when they erected a "Bewitched" sculpture in Salem, Mass. But I think that has to do with the Disnification of history.

9. Not That I Know Of. Yet!
When considering fundies, I think of the most stupid thing that can possibly be done, reduce the I.Q. by about 30 points from there, and I'm right more often than wrong.

2. I voted other
Why? Because, as was the case with Dogma, all these loons do by protesting movies like that is make them MORE successful. The producers are probably HOPING for controversy.

Remember the beginning of album labeling? Motley Crue jumped on the bandwagon, knowing it would improve their sales.

The moguls will be laughing all the way to the bank.

The goofballs certainly didn't hurt Harry Potter sales very much, did they?

I should hope my books generate a bit of controversy...and those who hate them are welcome to purchase and burn as many copies as they like.

3. Ever wonder why they don't boycott movies that really involve satanism?

6. If the leaders of the fundies try to use a boycott of Bewitched
as a fund raising tool they may be in for a surprise.

A lot of fundie baby boomers probably grew up watching the "Bewitched" T.V. series and consider "Bewitched" a harmless comedy. Criticism of the "Bewitched" movie could backfire on evangelical leaders.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I say the fundies will just ignore the movie.

8. I don't think the fundies are going to make a big fuss over Bewitched
It's a cutsie remake of a bland tv show they grew up on. It hearkens back to that time they are all fond of referring back to over and over again...."the good old days". True it will be updated, but still tame for a witchcraft movie.

"Beware 'a Satin! Hes everwhar! An' problie a hummasechel, too! Thank god fer dokr dobsin!"
