WHO IS GOING TO THE ANTI WAR RALLY?
As of Monday, June 6, over 3,500 endorsers have signed on to the September 24 Call for United Mass Action.

March planned for DC, LA & San Fran...Sept 24th.

http://answer.pephost.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ANS_S24index& amp;JS ervSessionIdr004=fhcjnwieo1.app6a#call

It's been a many years since I've marched in DC as I live quite a distance; but I plan to be in DC for the anti-war rally on Sept 24.

Seeing it appears to be gaining huge support,I'm wondering what others here are planning...and what you're thoughts are?

Below is a partial list of endorsers. Please check back for frequent updates.

31. Why did you miss all of the marches and protests in the lead up to this
illegal immoral war that has cost us 1700+ American young people and 4900+ injuries?

And yes, there will be other people at the rally in Honolulu.

Here's one....

http://www.unitedforpeace.org/

The September march on Washington will be the biggest in decades. That means average folk like you and me will be there. The war is insane and even Republicans know it. Time to take action!

11. I understand.
They (the link you provided) must be getting hit hard...it is taking FOREVER to load! Whereas, I am firmly against the war in Iraq, since day one, I am not comfortable with A.N.S.W.E.R. or many of their protests.

14. Okay
I accept that. But remember that antiwar rallies always contain every segment of political thought. You'll see a communists, anarchists and other interesting folk! But most of the people who march against this war are just regular people concerned about their country. I marched on New York City last August and I saw dozens of baby strollers, babies and parents. Most of the people were not the "radicals" that Big Media wants us to believe dominate antiwar sentiment.

18. I agree
I have marched in several rallies before, most gay pride parades; so, I have seen my share of "interesting folks." ;) I just don't think I would be very comfortable with some of the rhetoric when it comes to the "other" Occupation (I don't want this thread 'banished'). Seeing a Swastika scrawled across a certain flag and signs like, "One nation only!" make me very uneasy. However, I hope that the message of peace does reach the multitudes. I will continue to do my part to end the Iraqi war and removal of the mis-Administration!

23. We had 500,000 people in New York City last August !!
It seems every segment of society comes to antiwar marches, including out beloved gay community! I have liberal friends who are uneasy about ANSER. But they know the antiwar movement is bigger than ANSWR, "communism," the Democratic Party or that freedom fries congressman! The guys at ANSER are great organizers, so they get alot of attention. I think the march on Washington this September will be the biggest event of 2005 and will be remembered forever. People are angry -- and rightfully so!

5. I'm going to DC
I'm so pissed off that I can't help that I intend to get arrested during peaceful civil disobedience. The last time I was arrested was protesting apartheid in South Africa. I hope other DUers plan to get arrested to send a message. If not, that's cool! But I am so pissed off about this unnecessary BULLSHIT war.

As I told "wookie," there are certain elements that would put me ill-at-ease. I hope it goes well, gets media attention (we can always hope), and gets people to see that the war in Iraq is illegal and immoral. The other link you provided (same as wookie) is taking forever to load! Who'da thunk there'd be this many people trying to access it at this hour!?

25. It's the PERFECT day!
Bushler cannot possibly prepare all the praetorian guard to stop millions of Americans from marching on the White House.

We have a week to get the word out.

If, by chance, millions of Americans were spontaneously aroused by the thought that complete unity is our most effective weapon against the fascist pretenders, and that if marching on Washington on Independence Day meant all the insanity would stop, I think we could win our country back immediately.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, there are lives at stake right now - humans dying right this very moment BECAUSE of the Bush administration. So, why not try to save them now?

My piddly little job, and debt load, will most likely keep me fron D.C.

But protests in S.F. are pretty far out, ya know what I mean???

I'm an hour and a half drive away, so I'll be there!

I don't even want to think about bail.

27. I'll be going to D.C. for sure
I've protested in dc against the Iraq war several times ....first one for me was in Sept. '02 (6 months before the invasion)

Momentum appears to be building for 9/24. Hopefully there will be a huge turnout.

The biggest anti-war march I have personally attended so far was Feb. 16 2003 in San Francisco. Police estimated at least 250,000.

30. I'm looking for a ride
Whoever will take me along, there has to be room for a wheelchair, I'll roll, if I had to I'd crawl through the streets.
I've got to clear it with my wife, but, I think she'll understand why I have to go.
Something has to be done, I've sat on the sidelines long enough, I'm angry, and tired, but I'm pissed to the max and just don't care about myself anymore.
There are generations coming after us, and I don't want them living in a world that I wouldn't.

32. End Hatred Now...that's a great idea! Wow!
The whole world would change, what a cool thought. I totally agree.

Say, what hatreds in particular are you working on ending, and how do you do work to end that?

42. United For Peace And Justice Coalition
has also called for a National March on Washington on September 24th. ANSWER and UPJC are the two major national anti-war organizations which worked together in the past to build large anti-war demonstrations. Right now both organizations have called seperate demonstrations on the same day in Washington, D.C.!

Let's hope they can agree soon on a common march. I understand that ANSWER has been somewhat sectarian and pushy in their attitude. That must change. The big march will be organized by UPJC and I hope that ANSWER's leadership recognizes this reality and decides to co-sponsor the UPJC march on Washington. This is no time for petty disputes.
