iraqi resistance report on operation spear:the clusterbombing of al-Qa’im
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 06:59 PM by Monkie
i have been following the "iraqi resistance report" for over a year now,its a collation of arab language reports from iraq "Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice" that give a different picture of the situation in iraq than the one we get from the regular media,and while i cant verify the contents much that i have read there has later come out in the western media, for example the rape and abuse of prisoners and the use of women as bargaining chips.
i am posting part of the latest report from saturday in the hope that it helps remind us all why the DSM is so important and that we cant let up untill this illegal war is over.

"Saturday, 18 June 2005.

Ferocious fighting rages in al-Qa’im. American corpses hang from lampposts as US aircraft blast city with indiscriminate rockets and cluster bombs. Sandstorms envelope city after dark, knocking down US communications towers.

Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Qa’im.

Dead American troops hung from lampposts as savage fighting continues in al-Qa’im Saturday.

Savage fighting continued Saturday in al-Qa’im sending dozens of refugees streaming out of the city on the Iraq-Syrian border as American forces continued to batter the city in what they call Operation Spear.
Refugees from the city told Mafkarat al-Islam that on Saturday afternoon, they had watched as leading commanders of the Iraqi Resistance in the city hoisted the corpses of four dead American soldiers to the top of electric poles in the city.
Al-Hajj Mahdi al-‘Ani told the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Hadithah that he personally saw the bodies of four Americans in their well-known uniforms tied at the legs and hanging by legs from electric poles in the center of al-Qa’im.
~snip~
Mafkarat al-Islam noted that US forces had cut off all ground communications with al-Qa’im and were jamming portable and cellular telephone signals, making it impossible for the Mafkarat al-Islam office in Baghdad to make contact with its correspondents in al-Qa’im to confirm the reports

"American aggressors unleash unprecedented wave of savage bombing in al-Qa’im late Saturday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 7:50pm Mecca time Saturday evening, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent on the outskirts of al-Qa’im reported that at that moment the city had been under a savage air raid for half an hour. US F-16 and F-18 fighter bombers were blasting al-Qa’im, every part of which shook with the reverberation of the massive bombs.
The correspondent reported that the US aircraft were pouring dozens of container bombs – each one holding dozens of anti-personnel cluster bombs – and firing guided missiles in an unprecedentedly violent and indiscriminant assault on the city.
The correspondent, who was standing at the edge of the city, reported that he could hear nothing but the sound of rockets and container bombs as they blasted into al-Qa’im, met by the defiant chanting of prayers of encouragement from the minarets of mosques in the beleaguered city.

Appeal from al-Qa’im: indiscriminate US bombing killed 70 civilians in one week.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, published an appeal by the residents of the city of al-Qa’im to the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations that called on “all international humanitarian bodies and organizations to intervene to stop the outrages and acts of aggression being carried out by the US occupation forces against the residents of the Iraqi city of al-Qa’im and its environs.”
In their statement, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam, the people of al-Qa’im said that “the on-going, daily indiscriminate bombing and shelling using all types of fighter planes, helicopters, and vehicles, has taken the lives of more than 70 civilians and destroyed more than 70 residences this week, in addition to destroying a large number of the private cars and shops of the local people.” "

this is the side of war we dont get shown..

on edit:i figured anyone really wanting to read it would hit "iraqi resistance report" in google and you could chose to read it where you wish be it at your favourite "American and Jew-hating, Holocaust-denying website" or at indymedia.org or one of the other left wing sites it turns up at.If you actually went to read one of these reports you would find at the end a links provided to the original news reports he translated,and while i cant verify the truth of them i personally read what rabid american haters write about this war aswell as what neo-cons write about this war,i can disagree with someones viewpoint while believing he acurately translates what someone is saying about a certain event.I then form my own opinion :)

2. Link to the reported atrocities.
You do realize that your characterization in your OP is divisive, I'm sure. :eyes:

Who's side are you on? The Corporacrat Imperialists or the Iraqi Resistance?

Sorry. But, tis true.

Anyhoots, provide a link to the casualties of this BushCo/neoCON war, please.

The DoD isn't a mountain of credbility either of course. But these guys are nothing more than racist liars.

4. That is why I wanted that link.
I fear the real truth lies somewhere in between this and the PNAC warmongers.

5. I think both them and the PNAC live in their own fantasy dimensions.
The truth probably has nothing to do with what either says.

6. You're probably right.
That PNAC website is just as scary as radicalized Islamic sites.

9. Interesting you phrase it that way
I consider myself a rabid America-lover but tend to agree with most of the comments posted at the site, which should refer to the Bush administration and not blindly to the US

12. Do you think the Holocaust happened?
Interesting that you strongly agree with explicitly anti-Jewish racist hate sites.

13. Even more interesting that you
label the site that way without any evidence. Or is a pro-Arab site necessarily a 'racist hate site' by your way of thinking? Hmm?

15. I read the articles on the site. You obviously didn't. Your statement
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 03:02 PM by geek tragedy
that I attacked them without evidence is a lie.

http://www.google.com/search?q=+holocaust+OR+holohoax+OR+hoaxocost+OR+revisionism+OR+revisionist+site:freearabvoice.org&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&as_qdr=all&filter=0

Here's a sample for you:

<snip>
Once we accept the "Holocaust", we have already put ourselves at a
disadvantage in calling for the right of return. Afterall, wouldn't that
return of Palestinians to their land and property contradict the Jewish need
to have a homeland of their own?! Given all the ALLEGED suffering the Jew
has been through, wouldn't the return of Palestinians put the eternally
threatened Jew at risk?! See, you can't simply accept the right of return
and at the same time ignore the Hollowcause, for you can be sure that the
Hollowcause is looming in the back of the mind of Western public opinion
when we demand the right of return. We can't sweep that under the rug, no
matter how much we try.

By the way, one begins to accept the Hollowcause once one writes it with a
capital H, as "Holocaust". So even if you say there are many questions
surrounding it, if you write it with a capital H, you have already accepted
it. For more on that, read what Robert Faurisson wrote about this under
Previous FAV Issues at: Faurisson's Cancelled Lecture in Beirut
<snip>

<snip>
Note here the capital H attached to this alleged massacre. Moreover, why
should we jump to believe in this alleged theory??? Does it really serve us
AT ALL to adopt this theory wholesale and say let the White Europeans pay
for their crimes?!.. Also, the article continues to say that we are not even
concerned with this issue, leave it to the experts, because already "The
Holocaust and Jewish claims against European and Arab countries have
received enough attention, definitely more than any other persecution or
massacre in the human history." Here, the article is not even challenging
the truth behind this alleged massacre, only that it has received enough
attention!!
<snip>

http://www.freearabvoice.org/commentsOnArticleByMasadArbid.htm

Pure and explicit Holocaust denial.

I piss on the people behind that website, and anyone who thinks like them. They're racist bastards, and they're my enemies.
