I couldn't believe the evening network news shows last night....

Started out with CBS. They were covering: Jeb Bush & Terri Schaivo, Michael Jackson, the runaway bride, credit card theft, and some cutesy vacation piece. Same thing with ABC.

Then I turned to NBC, and they were at least covering the story about the Tyco CEO who got convicted. Except for the credit card story, the rest of the news broadcasts were total fluff.

The media is not doing its job!

1. After all these years
you couldn't believe it?

My friend, I'm surprised when the media does it's job, not the other way around.

2. The Jebbie Story Is Not A Bad Thing
Until there's some major American figure tied to DSM, it won't get the "sizzle" and means we will need to keep hammering the corporate media to keep this story going...and to work on the grassroots to educate people...go outside the corporate media filter. They're not gonna hop on our side until they can profit from it and us.

I think splashing the Jebbie story (dumb, dumb asshat) is a godsend. It not only kept the Schaivo fiasco alive one more un-needed day, but it put him front and center as one of the figures in why this circus got so out of control. The laughter you heard was millions of us snickering at this oxygen thief in trying to find some way to save face with his base and looking like a total screw-up to the rest of the country.

We should never expect the media to be on our side as they profit from pissing off both sides. Right now, pandering to the right gets them access, big name interviews, invites to the big drinkie-drinkie parties and all sorts of government perks and special legislation. What do the Democrats have to offer?

The media lives by the golden rule...ye who has the gold make the rules.

10. That's true...

The vast majority of people did not approve of the fundies Schiavo adventure. I guess it is good to remind them and keep it alive.

3. I haven't watched CBS, ABC or NBC news in over a year.
I also stopped watching CNN, CNBC and MSNBC for 'news.' About the only commentary I watch now is Keith O.

I try to watch Faux once in a while to see what their daily talking points are, but I can't take it for very long. I rarely get thru a whole 'story.'

"The Daily Show" is about the only news show I watch these days.

I also hit up the customer care page on DirectTV telling them I would trade all of the above for C-SPAN3. Got an email back telling me they proudly offer C-SPAN & C-SPAN2. (Duh - no shit guys - thanks for reminding me why I wrote in the first place.)

5. Keith O
Last night some blonde bimbo was filling in for him and wasted the top of the hour obsessing on that low-life who spent his last forty years diddling children. Sure, that is not nice but is it more important than the despoiling of an entire country or two? I am tired of sensationalism masquerading as news and think if I see that hyper-thyroidal 'runaway bride' one more time, I will become violent. Ditch the pretty faces and hire some honest newspeople. Were it not for the Internet, I would be as ignorant as the ones who keep voting for the Texas Turd and his coterie.

13. Yes, I watched it for about 5 minutes,
then went to the History channel & watched a story about the pyramids. I can't 'do' fill in fluff these days.

Thank god for the internets.

4. Take a look at this book!
Hi,
This is exactly the type of topic that the writer of the book "No Questions Asked" talks about.

http://www.noquestionasked.org

The writer tried to publish the book in the US but she was hardly critisized by the journalist professors and media critics to be to naive (take a look at the publishers comments).

I highly recommend it. It is a big book (300 pages) of fainating hard facts.

Cheers,
/Farhad

7. The Networks have lost their minds
and if you don't have any cable, and only get the Big Three (haha) as we do in the hills, you would go nuts without the Internets.

I also monitored CBS, NBC and ABC, and it was really sad, considering all that is happening currently. I really don't know how they sleep at night, or how they can fancy themselves journalists.

8. Please....The corporate media only covers fluff 99% of the time.
Keep on their asses if you want them to cover a story...

For now the DSM is continuing with new revelations that Cook and Straw, british officers, have validated and confirmed the allegations in the DSM along with testimony.

These men Conyers needs to testify on the record tomorrow if they do indeed hold one. They need these two desperately, because they know alot more on the subject.

9. Media whores are extremely nervous
Edited on Sat Jun-18-05 08:33 AM by susu369
rumors are that their Sugar Daddy is on the verge of bankruptcy and he is diagnosed with every transmittable venereal disease known.....
panic time.

How will Tweety pay for his new four-million-dollar-plus home at Nantucket if the bu$h* cabal goes down in flames?

14. I monitor MSM broadcasts as well,
and read MSM newspapers too. I think it is wrong and dangerous to give up watching and reading the MSM. Turning over the MSM is exactly what the right wants us to do...in fascist regimes, one of their targets is the MSM, so why should we just say, "Ooooh, I can't watch that anymore!" or tell others not to watch, listen or read. This is an example that I heard Naomi Klein give: If you live in a locale which is known for its air pollution, do you warn others not to go outside, or do you work to reform the local pollution standards? Would you just give over your air to factories and manufacturers without a fight? Like it or not, the MSM is what the sheeple use for their information these days....work for reform, instead of relinquishment. Holding the MSM accountable, like MediaMatters.org for example, is much more effective in winning the minds of the ordinary sheeple.
