White House forces Weather Channel to retract mistaken forecast.
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 09:59 PM by Fight_n_back
The White House blasted the Weather Channel as "irresponsible" today for falseley predicting sunny skies for Washington D.C. this week. "People, especially children, got wet and someone has to take responsibility for it. This type of wild speculation about the weather borders on malfeasence." said White House spokesgay Scott McClelland. "This isn't the first time that the liberal weather media has used unnamed scientific sources to speculate on weather patterns." The Weather Channel admitted that it forecast "mostly sunny skies" and didn't have to time to amend the forecast when a weather front blew in from the Atlantic, causeing light showers.

The White House's outrage began when a planned photo op in the Rose Garden had to be moved inside at the last moment because of the mistaken forecast. The surprise downpour ruined First Lady Laura Bush's hair. The Bush Administration has previously battled with the Weather Channel before over the issue of barometric pressure. "We feel that the issue of weather the air changes in pressure needs more study. Air pressure may cause tornadoes but it is beeter to study it more in order to be safe. Better safe than sorry."

Vice President Dick Cheney said, "I don't know anyone who even watches the Weather Channel. Where I come from we always take a sweater."

Senator Bill Frist said that he looked outside and said that the clouds were made of marshmallow. "They look fluffy and delicious." The House is responding by working on a bill outlawing weather forecasts until after the weather has happened.

In response the Weather Channel has changed their forecasting method from using meterological science and switching to a camaeraman's arthritic knee.

3. You sure foooled me!
I was so SURE that it came from The Onion, that I wandered over there and checked. No luck, but I found this delightful Human Interest story:

Habitrail For Humanity Under Fire

PAYNEVILLE, KY—Habitrail For Humanity, the faith-based, non-profit group that builds networks of affordable, transparent-tube housing for needy families, has come under intense criticism for its recent projects in the Payneville area.

"This is no way for people to live," said Kentucky Family Outreach coordinator Martin Weiss, speaking Monday in front of a half-constructed, five-story Habitrail outside Payneville. "While it's true that poor Americans need a viable alternative to housing projects, placing them in large, confusing warrens of see-through cylinders is not the solution."

Habitrail For Humanity spokesman Nick Bulwer, whose organization has snapped together more than half a million linear feet of low-cost housing since its inception in 1976, said he was "baffled" by the criticism.

"The 5 million Americans at or below the poverty line pay over half their income for housing, and that's not even addressing the rising number of homeless families," Bulwer said. "Because of Habitrail For Humanity, another 600 families are inside, out of the rain, and away from danger every year. With the help of our no-interest mortgages, these people will be owning residences for the first time in their lives. After spending years in cramped, dirty apartments, they finally have enough room to scurry around."

Wander over there yourself, and see if they're hiring!
