Mocking the Downing Street Memo
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2005/061705.html

The story by political correspondent Dana Milbank drips with a sarcasm that would never be allowed for a report on, say, a conservative gathering or on a topic involving any part of the American political spectrum other than the Left.

“In the Capitol basement yesterday, long-suffering House Democrats took a trip to the land of make-believe,” Milbank wrote. “They pretended a small conference room was the Judiciary Committee hearing room, draping white linens over folding tables to make them look like witness tables and bringing in cardboard name tags and extra flags to make the whole think look official.”

1. Wow!!!! That's out of control.
"Make-believe"? In what sense, Dana?

The DSM is real, and you know it.

2. It was just a "forum"...but
what were their other options. They TRIED to move them from the Capitol altogether but ended up "allowing" them to hold the forum there.

I'm not sure why/how that all happened. Anyone want to fill me in?

3. Another fine example
of how fixed our media is. I read this article, and my stomach turned. "..as they try to convince America that the Downing Street Memo is important"?!? Are you kidding me? Check the polls, Mrs Milbank, America is starting to see just how important these memos are. Heck even some Repubs are p/o'd that they were lied to. Amazing.

4. Umm, Mr. Milbank
And he's a liberal too. I think he was just offended at having to cover a "hearing" in basement. It fucks with his self-importance. I mean he works for the post. He shouldn't have to descend stairs.
