1. I just heard that
Very odd, indeed. The "Fight for Iraq" as in "we are going to get your oil" fight for Iraq? Nah....We're just there to spread freedom and democracy. :eyes:

2. Don't watch it anymore
It's bad for my health. I only watch Keith and TDS. We cancelled our local paper (after subscribing for over 30 years) and do not watch the local news. Independent media is the only thing I can stomach--DU, Buzzflash, Rawstory.

I used to be an avid viewer of CNN, but cannot stand it now.

4. I used to have it on in the background all the time,
but now I just can't. The stories they report on are so inane and stupid - they seem to be purposely avoiding real news stories. I just don't get it.

10. me too--all day (on my days off)
I'm talking for years!! Now my house is silent unless I put on AAR or watch C-span. What good is catering to the pro-Corp crowd if no one is watching??

3. It is a more accurate phase I think--as we (and tribes) ARE fighting
for Irag still--or portions of it.

7. Well both are accurate. It just depends upon how you interpret
the word "new." It never had the positive connotation to me that I believe was intended.

5. Interesting. When I flipped to them while watching the hearing yesterday
it was definitely "The New Iraq." That is an interesting change.

6. It reminds me of another phrase, the "fight for" something.
I just can't remember what it reminds me of. The Fight for (someone fill in the blank)

It's a stupid slogan, really. It's not a "fight." It's a g'damned war.
