I listened to it all from the C-Span 3 website where there wasn't "video" but just "sound" but I was so glued to it I couldn't leave.

I think it's great that Conyers got so many Congressional Dems who seem to be onboard with what to many DU'ers would be the EXTREME RIGHT who have fought to uncover the truth about why we INVADED IRAQ and the "unanswered questions."

1. It put me on a cloud.
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 07:03 PM by David Zephyr
I'm simply on a cloud today. Even the earthquake out here didn't take us away from the C-SPAN broadcast on the internet. We didn't budge.

I would prefer we did not have need them.

But they meet their goal that is to expose to the most people possible a few truths. If it reaches the media, this will be even better.

Kudos to Conyers.

4. Nope
I remember Watergate. Now THAT was something to behold. And George Bush is about to find out that those who forget history are condemned to repeat it (if he wasn't drunk in college that might have sunk into his simian skull back then).

6. The impeachment hearings will be better
but it was certainly historic. I just hope more people get to see it eventually.

17. Hi, welcome to DU
There were scattered protests today and a larger one in DC. I haven't heard of any others yet. I usually find out about protests through email, codepink, or see them on DU.

7. The room was cramped, the setting inauspicious...
but the voices were clear and loud and TRUTHFUL. We didn't need a huge hall with gilt chairs and plush red carpeting-- we persisted, we spoke up, we TOLD THE TRUTH. That's all that matters. I'm so proud of everyone-- so very proud.

10. I know it reminded me of our little groups all over the internet...where
we sit before our computers of all speeds and different browser types and click away trying to save Democracy. No one sees us but OMG WE HAVE A HUGE VOICE.

That's what I loved about these hearings. Sort of like the beginnings of the "American Revolution" where a few folks got together and HOW IT GREW! Overthrowing the First KING GEORGE! Some kind of "Karma" for sure.

15. I didn't realize it was being re-broadcast tonight (and tomorrow
night too, I believe) but when I saw that it was, I sat down and watched the whole thing. And what you said is so true: WE HAVE A HUGE VOICE!!!

It's so overwhelming I can't really take it all in...

12. history will record the hearings as the turning point . . .
for BushCo, for the war, for this country . . . exactly HOW it will all play out is unclear . . . that it WILL play out is assured . . .

as a friend reminded me this evening, you can't put the fart back in . . . and the DSM is one HUGE Hershey squirt . . .

18. I noticed that my Congresswoman had tears in her eyes
as my hero Conyers mentioned the 550,000 who have signed the letter. :bounce: I think we watched history today. The truth is getting out because of the internet and courageous politicians.

19. I loved that Keyes was there & spoke briefly @ the end.
I think his name is Ron Keyes and he ran for Prime Minister in Blair's constituency. He decided 2 run after his son was killed in Iraq. He said that Parliament was investigating as well.
