NBC Nightly News "reports" the DSM .... Andre Mitchell the reporter
They layed it out ...shared the path of "deception" BUT did nothing

more than say the memo's existed. Did not connect "any dots" nor

did they suggest that this is "wrong".

Obviously, GE must have profited handsomely from the "deaths in Iraq".

Andrea Mitchell did nothing more than the minimum.

There have been more detailed DU threads than the NBC report.

1. They're stepping very carefully
Because NBC's story tonight is that they have "verified" the memo, wahtever that means.

11. They've finally verified the memo?
Something all the principles admit is real. How bold of them.

This is the same network that reported the death of Ron Brown was "suspicious" and was the object of complaints by Matt Drudge because they ran with his "exclusives" the same day without giving him credit.

The double standard at work.

3. Propaganda, propaganda, propaganda!
At least they did something.

But, c'mon! It was sandwiched in between some incoherent ramblings about Iran's nuclear program, and Guantanamo! Then, they spent more time than on any of those three stories on a 20 year old hijacking.

Was that GE equipment they showed in the Iran piece?

It was something at least! (keeps telling self that...)

5. They should be more than afraid of being prosecuted....
For complicitly helping them cover up the crime, by not reporting more and more of the truth to the restless public....

6. Reporting this naturally leads to talk of impeachment. These days
that kind of talk leads to charges of treason. They are being very careful.

9. "this report" was soooo superficial... it does not inform the public by
design.

NBC/GE has blood on thier hands and $$$$$ in thier pockets from this "illegal war".

7. It's a start
We wanted it reported on national news and it has been reported on national news. Now we have to keep up the pressure and make sure there are follow ups on it. We must also keep the pressure on the other networks to cover it too. I mean CBS led with a story about how hot it is on the east coast. Big deal. It has been hot here in the midwest too. We are used to it and it isn't even newsworthy.

8. The White House better call a plumber -
because I think I hear a drip! Slowly (very slowly) but surely the news of the DSM is starting to trickle into the reporting of the MSM. Maybe it's not the flood of information that we all would like to have reported, but tonight might be the first time that some folks have ever heard the words Downing Street Memo mentioned. This could get interesting!

12. Never said the memos were written BEFORE the war began.
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 07:48 PM by wurzel
I e-mailed NBC: Andre Mitchell should be fired! Her report on the Downing Street Memos was a disgrace. The MAJOR point of those memos is not the incompetance of Bush Administration post war planning. The point is those memos were written BEFORE the war even started. When we were being told the lie that there were no invasion of Iraq plans on Bush's desk. Remember that? At no time did Mitchell make it clear that these memos were written BEFORE we invaded Iraq!

13. That is why top Democrats like Kerry & Dean need to make statements on TV.
Why should Republican corporations repeat Democratic talking points?

SOMEONE needs to go onTV and tell the truth about this.

I REALLY want the top, quotable DEMs to start giving some face time over these documents.
