So I was putting my DU sticker on my car when
my gun-owning neighbor walked by. I asked him, "so are you a democrat or ...?" and he says "yes I am. I hate that fucker Bush". We had a nice chat, and he didn't know about the Conyers letter. He is a construction worker and does not have a computer at home, but says his daughter has one. I gave him the info and he says "Sure. I'll sign the letter." A good day.

2. Thanks for spreading the word about the DSM
If the MSM media won't do it, we have to get the news out to the people ourselves.

6. I'm a gun owning neighbor
of rednecks with pit bulls. Signed it a week ago. What's gun owning have to do with anything? Not a flame, just a question.

And for what it's worth, My brother is a dumb, fucking born wrong the first time, hillbillie, trailer trash too.

But I really am a construction worker with a Shi Tzu, and a flaming liberal, and a future gun owner, and a pickup truck owner. So there!

21. gunowning...
Keith, I was just saying "my gun owning neighbor", because that's all I knew about him at the time. That fact transpired when he said something to that effect when our car got busted into a few weeks back. So that's all there is to it.

31. OK, truthfully,
that's all I knew about him, so I suspected he might be a republican. I was pleasantly surprised that he turned out differently. I think that's why I mentioned it. I could have just said "my neighbor", but I didn't.

Indeed a good day. It was more than life altering for me to get on the computer and receive information that does not come from propaganda central. Your 'small' act will probably change your neighbor's life, and the ripple effect continues.

Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 08:50 PM by Roxy66
We disagree on some liberal issues, such as gay marriage, and a few other social issues...BUT HE GETS IT. He is a major gun owner, can come off as a redneck too....but he knows..... UNIONS are absolutely essential, Bush is a liar, OUTSOURCING is destroying our way of life, Bush is a liar, CORPORATIONS ARE TAKING OVER, Bush is a liar, and DEMOCRATS are on the peoples side......oh, and Bush is a liar. :)

30. I was the only person around here to have a Kerry for Prez
sign on the lawn. Way less people even bothered saying hello when spring came and people start coming out of hibernating around here. These are true pugs here....

I want to move to a normal neighborhood and am planning on it. It's funny, the old house I disliked but liked the neighbors a lot. This house I love but I hate the neighbors.

33. Right on
I recall before the '04 election my mom asked me over the phone who I was voting for. Being she is very religious and always struck me as conservative (we don't have one of those super-close relationships) I assumed she would be voting for * so I avoided the question so as not to get into a heated discussion.

When I later went for a visit on Nov. 2 (left right after voting) I discovered that she and hubby were in fact staunchly against *. We spent much of the next two days watching to discover the election results and discussing politics. It was a nice discovery really.

I think of putting the sticker on something happens, a freak accident. Whammo- down graded to a lousier car. If I had put the sticker on I would be paranoid by now or it would have disappeared two bumpers ago.

Actually, I don't have possession of it right now - it's my great-grandfather's 12-gauge, and it's a wallhanger anyway.

But I used to own a TEC-9. Does that count?

43. My Dad is a card-carrying NRA member
but a life-long Democrat. He says that 'they're for the Little Guy' where Republicans are for the rich. He's worked in construction all my life and drives a pickup.

But he's a 'Nam vet and a former biker. A raging non-comformist from the word 'go.'

Owning guns does not a Republican make. Thankfully.
